Who blocked the access in 2022
@Mellk: as a foreigner I have no clue what the name Roskomnadzor is. There is no introduction at all. Since it is an arm of the executive, it is Russian govt. The Moscow Times Headline today says "Russia blocks 2 Independent Media Sites Over War Coverage". Venkat TL (talk) 09:15, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Venkat TL: That's fair enough, but it was specifying the government agency, as the action of the country's censor, as mentioned in Interfax refs. Mellk (talk) 09:18, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- Since Roskomnadzor is not a very widely popular name as CIA or KGB, adding it in the lead without an intro about the org is not ideal. The section below about the event should contain all these details including the name Roskomnadzor and its intro. Venkat TL (talk) 09:23, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- It could be improved by saying "... the country's censor, Roskomnadzor, blocked access..." but it's a minor issue, current version is fine. Mellk (talk) 09:25, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- This article states that tvrain.ru is blocked, but the website is still available. Watch here: Бои под Киевом.--2003:CF:3F0C:AF57:E5F5:CE44:75E1:9BE9 (talk) 18:22, 2 March 2022 (UTC)
- @2003:CF:3F0C:AF57:E5F5:CE44:75E1:9BE9 The Channel and the Site have been blocked in Russia. You are in Germany so may be you can access it. AFP journalists in Russia verified and confirmed that the sites were not accessible from Russia. It is reported in the Moscow Times article, I quoted. Venkat TL (talk) 18:31, 2 March 2022 (UTC)

Dozhd → TV Rain – "TV Rain" is the most common name. Links: Official website; YouTube channel. Numbers of Google hits: "Dozhd" "channel"; "TV Rain" "channel". Notice how the search for "Dozhd" brings mostly pages that use "TV Rain" as the primary title. Triggerhippie4 (talk) 04:24, 21 October 2022 (UTC) — Relisting. — Ceso femmuin mbolgaig mbung, mellohi! First sentence
I see "Russian-language" label may be opposed[1] due to the existence of TV Rain Newsroom. I think that it does not mean it cannot be described as a Russian-language TV channel/broadcaster since there are no actual broadcasts in English and the website does not have an English version. It seems to just be a couple social media channels in English with relatively limited content. Anyway if "Russian-language" is not good enough, it is still considered to be part of (exiled) Russian media even if no longer based in Russia, at least RS describe it as such, otherwise "independent" looks out of place.[2][3][4][5][6] Tagging @RenatUK. Mellk (talk) 03:25, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
- @Mellk I am okay with "Russian". Renat 15:16, 9 December 2022 (UTC)
Critismism
The channel has been accused of being "a friendly face of russian imperialism", for supporting the annexation of Crimea. 2003:DD:4F38:359E:7033:5DD5:477F:ACA8 (talk) 19:49, 1 July 2023 (UTC)

- I went through the major points they highlighted with the chapters feature.
- 1. They blame the channel for covering the celebration of the Russian Flag Day in the occupied territories of Ukraine last year. How does that make them imperialistic? TV Rain anchors say that these territories are occupied by Russia right in the video shown.
- 2. Alexey Korostelev was fired. I think this makes the channel's position clear.
- 3. Dzyadko's tweet is explained here by himself: twitter.
- 4. One of the channel's anchors made a photo hugging Anton Krasovsky in 2020. This was when Krasovsky was considered a liberal and before his infamous statements.
- 5. One of the channel's producers works as a reporter for a Russian fashion channel which is owned by Igor Kesaev, who has connections with the Russian special services. Don't you think that if TV Rain was imperialist, then there would be no need for such a stretch as an example, and there would be more solid examples of their actual coverage?
- Please, provide written material from a reliable source next time, so we don't have to sit through this propaganda. Triggerhippie4 (talk) 14:28, 23 July 2023 (UTC)

- I'm not saying what is and isn't true, I'm just saying that Rain TV is controversia, especially in eastern Europe circles, which view the redaction as "diet putinists". 2A02:8108:1640:5282:45:66D2:6897:2EDF (talk) 22:29, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

- The Latvian controversy is already described here: TV Rain#Exile and ban in Latvia and Russia. Triggerhippie4 (talk) 07:15, 2 August 2023 (UTC)
- Still a fringe view. Mellk (talk) 15:04, 5 August 2023 (UTC)
