Athens

[edit]

Athens centre is 37.58 so listing Athens is wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.66.16.246 (talk) 17:10, 28 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Alphabetical order

No reason for the US to be put first on a list. -Jackmont Nov 16, 2006

Geographical ignorance

[edit]

Does nobody know where the 38th goes through other countries? I see no reason for this information to be included for America only, if at all.

Geographical ignorance 2

[edit]

The Prime Meridian does not pass near Italy, so the entry 38°0′N 0°0′E / 38°N 0°E / 38; 0 (Prime Meridian) Mediterranean Sea Passing just north of the island of Marettimo, Italy is wrong. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.89.101.238 (talk) 05:47, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No. The article does not state that Italy is on the Prime Meridian.
It shows the countries and waterbodies through which the 38th parallel passes, starting at the Prime Meridian and heading east. The parallel intersects the Prime Meridian in the Mediterranean Sea. Heading east, it continues to pass through the Mediterranean until 12°19′E when it meets land in Italy. But, before it meets land, it passes just north of Marettimo island.
The article is simply showing that the parallel passes by Marettimo when it's in the Mediterranean, somewhere between the Prime Meridian and landfall in Italy. I will clarify this by adding co-ordinates for Marettimo, but what's currently there is not wrong. Bazonka (talk) 08:21, 25 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
