As far as I remember the company was not referred to as ABU-Garcia before well into the 1980s. I seem to recall that that the namechange came about as the result of a merger with another company. PerDaniel 19:28, 21 September 2006 (UTC)
prod removal
The way the article is written, while it is not a referenced article yet, does not appear to me to be PR or trade puffery. It's a history of the company, previously Abu Svängsta, now Garcia, that is a genuinely world renowned manufacturer of fishing rods, reels, lures etc.
The right editor can pull whatever freferences are needed from these Ghits, with reference to WP:RS.
The company is notable and verifiable, but that is not asserted yet in the article. With good fortune someone will pick this particular task up and hammer it into some shape.
I've added a couple of banners to replace the prod. I suppose it's alwasy posisble that we see this at AfD, but I would prefer to think that improvement is the route instead of deletion.

Article enhancement
I've made a start at it, but there is so much more that is needed. That prod was a good wake-up call. Perhaps others will now take this on? Fiddle Faddle (talk) 00:08, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
Spelling
Even though it's originally an abbreviation, the company itself uses the spelling "Abu Garcia" everywhere as far as I can see, not ABU.
