New edits for consideration

Hello.

My name is Michael Bush and I handle external communications for Edelman, the Communications agency. I am hoping to update the company page with the below content and would like to propose these changes/additions to the community for consideration.

Edelman has more than 5,000 employees in 65 offices around the globe. In 2019 global revenue was $892,039,000. PRWeek:

The agency opened the New York office in 1960. This was followed by a series of office openings around the globe spanning seven decades including London (1967); Washington, D.C. (1968); Hong Kong (1986); Silicon Valley (1992); and Beijing (1994). Between 2010 and 2012, Edelman continued its global expansion opening offices in Calgary, Dubai, and five new branches in India – Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune. Edelman and The Rise of Public Relations, p. 121 In 2013, the firm opened its first office in South Africa with the acquisition of Baird's Renaissance. PRWeek In 2015 it expanded its footprint in South America through the purchase of Position Comunicaciones in Colombia. PRovoke Media

Richard Edelman was named Global CEO of the eponymous firm in 1996 LinkedIn. He took over for his father Daniel J. Edelman, who remained Chairman of Edelman until he passed away in 2013 at the age of 92. Advertising Age

Additional updates from third party sources

Hi, this is Michael Bush from Edelman. I realize I have a conflict of interest per Wikipedia's policies and would like to suggest the following factual additions from third-party sources. I am posting them here in hopes of someone from the community reviewing and making the appropriate additions to the Edelman page.

Richard Edelman was named Agency Executive of the Year by Advertising Age in 2008. The publication cited Edelman’s success in changing the idea of what a PR agency is and can do as the reason for the honor. (Ad Age https://adage.com/article/print-edition/edelman-changing-idea-a-pr-agency/123166) In 2009 the firm was named one of the top 10 Agencies of the Decade by both Advertising Age and PRovoke Media. (Ad Age https://adage.com/article/print-edition/book-tens-agencies-decade/141055) (PRovoke Media https://www.provokemedia.com/latest/article/agency-of-the-decade) In 2014, Richard Edelman was inducted into the Arthur W. In 2016, Edelman won the Titanium Grand Prix at the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival for its work on REI’s #optoutside campaign. As part of the campaign, the outdoor retailer took the step of shutting its stores on Black Friday, the busiest shopping day of the year in the U.S. and told people to instead spend the day outside. The retailer also paid its employees during the closure. Hello Wikipedia community. This is Mike Bush again. I am following up on the above proposed factual additions. I haven't heard back from anyone since I made these suggestions two weeks ago. If there are any concerns about the proposed third--party cited additions please let me know. If I don't hear back, I will go ahead and make these factual updates in the coming days. Thank you

Hello, Wikipedia Community. This is Michael Bush again. I didn't hear back from anyone in the last week-and-a-half so I made the edits I suggested above, provided factual sources for the updates and created an awards section for the page. Thank you for giving this your attention.

Minor updates to information box

Hello Wikipedia Community. This is Mike Bush from Edelman. After making factual updates to the page a few months back, I want to propose a few minor edits to the information box at the top right of the page.

I recognize I have a conflict of interest per Wikipedia's policies, so I would like to ask that the community review and consider these proposed minor edits.

I have changed the number of offices to 66 and updated the global revenue number per an article in PRovoke Media. (PRovoke Media) [1]

Thank you very much for your consideration.

Edits to 2000-present subsection

Hey there, I'm proposing some edits to the 2000-present subsection. My main goal is to get the section organized, so that the content is chronological and events are grouped together in a way that makes it easy to follow. Please see the diff below for all that. I'm also proposing some additions and subtractions to the subsection. I'll lay those out here:

 1. Cut first passage about offices opening, because it's not terribly descriptive to say that, over the course of a decade, Edelman opened new offices. Where possible, I've added instances of specific offices opening in specific years (see: Baird's Renaissance and Position Comunicaciones passages).
 2. Add that Edelman launched its first Trust Barometer in 2000. This is a significant development in the firm's history. Trust Barometer is a widely circulated report that's been running for 23 years.
 3. Cut A&R acquisition, since A&R wasn't a huge name when it was acquired and didn't expand Edelman's business in a significant way (e.g. move it into a new locale, give it some new capability).
 4. Cut Edelman rebranding its digital practice, since that's just a marketing matter.
 5. Cut sentence about Edelman attending 2023 World Economic Forum. Edelman attends the WEF every year, so being there in 2023 to release that year's Trust Barometer isn't a notable development.
 6. Cut announcement of B2B marketing group, as it's a minor development in the firm's history.
 7. Cut sentence about Edelman doing PR for San Francisco's civic pride campaign, which would probably fit better under the Clients heading.
 8. Add sentence about Edelman's 70th anniversary, the opening of its museum in Chicago
In the 2000s, the company has opened offices in Calgary, Canada; Dubai; South Africa, and Colombia.

In 2002, the company shortened their names from Edelman Public Relations Worldwide to Edelman. An office was opened in Turkey in 2012. By 2012, it had established the Edelman Digital division with about 600 staff and about half of its work was social media-related. It acquired technology public relations firm, A&R, in 2006. In 2012 it introduced the Business and Social Purpose division. It also introduced the Employee Engagement Connections Index, which helps users evaluate employee engagement through data collected in employee surveys, social media conversations, and feedback from human resources departments. In January 2013, the firm launched The Daniel J. Edelman China Group. Edelman launched a joint venture with United Talent Agency in 2014 that resulted in the formation of a unit called United Entertainment Group (UEG). UEG specializes in entertainment, sports and lifestyle marketing. The unit saw 10% growth in 2019. Edelman Internet Services was rebranded as Edelman Digital. In 2018, the 600-plus-member practice was named Global Digital Agency of the Year by Provoke Media. In September 2018, Edelman was listed by UK-based company Richtopia at number 4 in the list of 200 Most Influential PR Companies. In 2022, there was an increase in revenue of 12.8%, to $1,079m.

In 2023, Edelman joined the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where they announced the release of their "Trust Barometer", which has been released every year since 2000. Edelman announced in June 2023 that the company would be launching a global B2B marketing group. This new program will hopefully reach more marketing programs that should gain more trust from B2B buyers and clients. Edelman is also leading public relations for a civic pride campaign to improve the reputation for San Francisco.
+
In 2000, Edelman published its first edition of Trust Barometer, an annual survey designed to measure the public's level of trust in business, government, media and NGOs. In 2002, the firm shortened its name from Edelman Public Relations Worldwide to Edelman.

By 2012, it had established the Edelman Digital division with about 600 staff and about half of its work was social media-related. That same year, the firm introduced its Business and Social Purpose division. It also introduced the Employee Engagement Connections Index, which helps users evaluate employee engagement through data collected in employee surveys, social media conversations, and feedback from human resources departments. In October 2012, the firm opened an office in Turkey. In January 2013, the firm launched The Daniel J. Edelman China Group. In May 2013, Edelman expanded into South Africa by acquiring Baird's Renaissance, which had previously been affiliated with Edelman for 20 years. Edelman launched a joint venture with United Talent Agency in 2014 that resulted in the formation of a unit called United Entertainment Group (UEG). UEG specializes in entertainment, sports and lifestyle marketing. The unit saw 10% growth in 2019. In 2015, the firm moved into Colombia by acquiring Position Comunicaciones. In 2018, Edelman's digital practice was named Global Digital Agency of the Year by Provoke Media. In September 2018, Edelman was listed by UK-based company Richtopia at number 4 in the list of 200 Most Influential PR Companies.

In 2022, Edelman surpassed $1 billion in global annual revenue for the first time. That year also marked the firm's 70th anniversary. On October 1, 2022, it inaugurated the Edelman Museum, a space within its Chicago offices chronicling the firm's history and notable campaigns.

The subsection would look like this afterwards:

OK, having said all that, I will now let independent editors review. Sorry for proposing these changes in one big batch. It's hard to reorganize the subsection—even if most of it is just moving sentences around—without spilling a lot of ink. Thank you in advance to anyone who gets involved in this review process. I'm happy to field questions and make adjustments to the content above as needed. MichaelBush48 (talk) 18:23, 4 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Edits to People and governance section

I'm back again to propose edits to the People and governance section, which I believe is in need of some clean-up. I'll outline my edits here:

 1. Replace all citations that link to Edelman's website with secondary sources
 2. Transform bulleted list of the firm's leadership into prose
 3. Arrange events (e.g. when an executive moved into their current role) in chronological order
 4. Cut extraneous detail from passage about Matthew Harrington
 5. Add Ed Williams, who stepped into a role as firm's first int'l president in 2023

Here is a diff that provides a more granular breakdown:

Matthew Harrington, a 35-year Edelman veteran and then Chief Operating Officer, was named Global President of the firm in 2019. He participated on behalf of Edelman in the October 2019 Event 201 coronavirus pandemic preparedness exercise in New York City.

Judy John was named Edelman's first-ever Global Chief Creative Officer in February 2019. Lisa Osborne Ross was named CEO of Edelman's U.S. operation in April 2021. Ross became the first Black woman to run a PR operation of that size. Ross announced in October 2023 that she is leaving the firm.

As of November 2023, the following people are in key positions in the company: *CEO: Richard Edelman (since 1996) *Chief People Officer: Soni Basi *Global President, COO and Acting U.S. CEO: Matthew Harrington *EVP & Worldwide Chief Financial Officer: Victor Malanga
+
The firm is led by Richard Edelman, who assumed the CEO role in 1996. Victor Malanga has been Edelman's global CFO since 2007.

Alright, that's everything out of me. Happy to help the review process along in whatever way I can. Thanks! MichaelBush48 (talk) 15:19, 4 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, User:Dana boomer: would you like to review this edit request? I noticed that you assessed the Edelman article as a whole quite a while ago, and found it lacking. (Which I totally understand. It's still in pretty rough shape. I'm trying to fix it up, section-by-section.) If you're interested, have at it. And if not, please don't feel any obligation. Thanks! User:STEMinfo: Thanks for implementing my request! Sorry to ask for one more thing, but while this request was awaiting review, Edelman filled the U.S. CEO post that Lisa Osborne Ross left last year. I'll suggest a new sentence, just to close the loop on that development:
Lisa Osborne Ross was named CEO of Edelman's U.S. operation in April 2021. Ross became the first Black woman to run a PR operation of that size.[1] Ross announced in October 2023 that she was leaving the firm.[2] In January 2024, Kirsty Graham took over as Edelman's U.S. CEO.[3]
Again, I very much appreciate the help. Cheers, MichaelBush48 (talk) 17:35, 29 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
