Naming

[edit]

Shouldn't this article be renamed? The oxygen window is not specific to technical diving - it relates to all decompression doesn't it? Wouldn't Oxygen window or Oxygen window (decompression) (in case there is another type of non-diving oxygen window) be better? Mark.murphy 19:56, 30 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Reply: The oxygen window as such is probably in effect in any circumstances where tissue saturation (due to pressure changes) is affected by metabolising oxygen. However in this article I want to focus on the application of oxygen window effects within technical diving (which is rather specific) where it is common to use high PPO2 mixes to reduce decompression time (in commercial diving shaving of 10 extra minutes on decompression by shaping an optimal curve is not as important).

There should be a separate article explaining oxygen window effects as such, as it is a complex topic with consequences for many fields of medicine. User:Jan Henry S. Fosse

Reply: I second the move to Oxygen window (decompression) for this article. If an article is written using further medical implications, this could be addressed then. Gene Hobbs (talk) 20:04, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What is a decompression curve?

[edit]

In "and to push gradient at the shallower depths of the decompression curve, thus creating an S-shaped curve":-

  1. What is a "decompression curve"?
  2. What is "pushing gradient"?

Rubicon Foundation

[edit]

Rubicon Foundation per se have nothing to do with the subject. If there is pertinent info in the repository details of the search parameters would be helpful. Perhaps the general DAN link is also inappropriate here - searching on "window" only produces their Newsletter! Both links seem to be there primarily to promote a website. Either link might be acceptable on a more general page on diving. Finavon 22:27, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oxygen window in diving decompressionOxygen window – A glance at a Web search suggests the term "oxygen window" is overwhelmingly used in the context of diving, and so this article should be at that name as the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. Old discussion on this page suggests the term may see use in other contexts, but seeing as the effect is always based on the same underlying physiology, a single article can probably address these aspects in different sections. 47.155.96.47 (talk) 22:24, 22 July 2021 (UTC) Relisting. Favonian (talk) 14:30, 30 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
