Where is the name Cipriani from?
[edit]England? Reaper7 (talk) 19:34, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
It's an Italian surname, taken from the given name Cipriano, which means "from Cyprus". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.215.78.32 (talk) 20:37, 15 March 2008 (UTC)
- So can we say he has Italian roots and explain what his names means? Reaper7 (talk) 19:47, 16 March 2008 (UTC)
Well, the article says that his father was from Trinidad, and I wondered if he was any relation to the Trinidadian politician Arthur Andrew Cipriani, whose family came from Corsica? Millbanks (talk) 14:40, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
My own surname is Cipriani (there are a small number of us here in the UK!) and my late grandfather was originally from Trinidad & Tobago (T&T). My research has shown that the surname Cipriani isn't uncommon in T&T, as there was a steady flow of immigration from Corsica to T&T in the 1860s, and there appears to be quite a few families in T&T with the surname. I've only recently started to study the history and origin of my surname, but I am continuing to do so, as I'm intrigued to learn if I may descend from Arthur Cipriani. If I find any link between Arthur Cipriani and Danny I will report back. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.102.15.200 (talk) 14:53, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Danny Cipriani himself has said...
"The whole family originally came from Trinidad so I'm half West Indian, although there may be an Italian connection."

[edit]Quell is trying to censor Danny's appearing in the British tabloids over his liason with a male-female transsexual Larissa Summers. This is unfortunate.
e.g. in this interview here: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/rugby_union/article3602897.ece
He spent a night with a young model, Larissa Summers, who passed on the details to the News of the World. The newspaper then reported that she had, in fact, started life as Darren Pratt before having a sex change. It was the kind of silly story that needed only a name to stop the passing reader. Cipriani was the name. Did he find it humiliating?
“No, not at all. It was an honest mistake on my part. I still don’t know if it’s true [that Larissa was once Darren] but I’m too hard-skinned for something like that to affect me. I’ve spoken to so many people since who’ve told me they did the same thing, except they knew the situation beforehand. These are people everyone would know. That made me laugh.”
It's not original research, so what's the problem? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.162.105.142 (talk) 22:54, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
From Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons: "Wikipedia aims to be a reputable encyclopedia, not a tabloid." Why do you think a reputable encyclopedia includes spicy gossip about someone's sex life?
Something not being original research does not automatically make it suitable for inclusion. Qell (talk) 06:34, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Yes, because like it or not "Danny-Danny-slept-with-a-manny-Cipriani"/"Kelly Brook's boyfriend" is in the public eye; he is in the tabloids much more than ordinary rugby players. And you can't say that he is in the tabloids without what he is saying he is in their for. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.147.43.85 (talk) 17:47, 26 July 2009 (UTC)
