Tendonitis prior to Olympic Games

[edit]

Some unsourced claims appear in the Web that Dave Wottle had tendonitis which prevented him from preparing to the Games properly, and that might be a reason for his incredibly slow start in the 800 m race.

A 1972 NYT article

  • Neil Amdur (August 2, 1972), "Ailing Knees Threaten Wottle's Hopes", The New York Times

seems to confirm the health condition, but it doesn't explain or confirm a correlation to the race. I suppose we can't add info based on such a weak source...? --CiaPan (talk) 20:03, 4 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

As I recall from memory, without looking at sources, Wottle ran a similar come from behind race in the Olympic preliminaries to qualify for the final. I'd also consider the New York Times link as a strong source.Skilgis1900 (talk) 23:14, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
