Maccabees thing

[edit]

Removed the Maccabees thing because it was irrelevant — Preceding unsigned comment added by 202.173.146.220 (talk) 03:17, 9 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Very Bias

[edit]

I think this article is very bias and somewhat anti-Richard Joel. I think the name should be Mr. Joel or President Joel, not just his last name. In addition, some of the material used isn't biographical. It's very much like a soap box.

As for the use of "Joel" as opposed to "Pres. Joel," this follows Wikipedia:Naming conventions and is thus appropriate. (George W. Bush is referred to as "Bush" in his article). After reading the article over, I agree about the bias part. The criticisms of Richard Joel are certainly notable, but a better degree of balance is necessary. Feel free to add information documenting praise of Richard Joel, or something to that effect. --DLand 07:42, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I just removed the cleanup tag, since I don't see what needs to be "cleaned up" besides the POV, which has its own tag. Also, I removed two links associated with the movement to abolish the new YU logo - there were three of those at the time. Consequently, I removed the {{advertisement}} tag. --DLand 07:53, 4 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

As one of the original writers of some of the nonsense on this page, such as Joel's salary, I finally decided to delete it. That takes care of most of the NPOV issues. I can't comment on the Hillel allegations, but if they can be backed up with sources, there's no NPOV problem there either. 129.98.212.164 04:05, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed the reference to the panel he was on at Hillel because it was irrelevant and lacked a citation. --idtboy 1:04, 11 April 2008

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to one external link on Richard Joel. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

I added the advert tag because of statements such as "President Joel is renowned as a charismatic leader and a captivating orator" and "He and his wife, and best friend Esther (née Ribner), who holds a PhD from YU's Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology, have six children all of whom have attended Yeshiva University schools, and ten grandchildren, who are the great joy of their lives." Personally, I think the article should be rewritten from scratch (NO, I'm not volunteering.) Costatitanica (talk) 19:03, 22 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted the stuff about "...and best friend" and "who are the joy of their lives" to make the section on Personal Life more a factual summary than an excerpt from Joel's own webpage. 139.67.27.52 (talk) 20:08, 15 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
