BLP violations, January 2011
[edit]Untitled
[edit]I have reverted several instances of POV pushing and blatant BLP violations. Somebody is trying to turn this into an attack page against this person. It doesn't matter how well-sourced the smears against a living person are--they have absolutely no place in Wikipedia. Qworty (talk) 07:25, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
background reading
[edit]Dominican Days by Peter Lane, available on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk, provides useful information about the historical animosity between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. It shows how the dictator Trujillo massacred Haitians in the 1930's but then went on to encourage the seasonal employment of Haitians to cut sugar cane in the Dominican Republic. The book describes the terrible conditions in which these cane cutters live and work. On the same day as Solange Pirre died there was another boat people tragedy in the Dominican Republic when a small craft with dozens of Dominicans hoping to escape to Puerto Rico went down in high seas. Many were drowned. Dominican Days also explains the reasons for and the extent of the Dominican boat people.Cristobal1950 (talk) 17:53, 6 December 2011 (UTC)
