Marco Camisani-Calzolari

Hi Kj Cheetham, I saw your tag on a page i've edited before and agree. I've made some changes to improve it. I'm reasonably new to wiki and was wondering if you think these changes make the page read better and less resumé-esque. Wanted to get your opinion before I removed the resumé tag. Thanks - Inhertbows. Inhertbows (talk) 10:21, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Inhertbows, thanks for your message. I've not reviewed Marco Camisani-Calzolari carefully and I'll leave it for another patroller to mark as reviewed, but glancing at it now it looks much better than before; thank you for your contributions! I've now removed the tag. Let me know if anything I can assist you with in the future. -Kj cheetham (talk) 12:17, 11 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup 2024 February newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. DYK for Ian Begg (architect)

On 15 February 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Ian Begg (architect), which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Ian Begg, known for his work on restoration of castles in Scotland, designed and built his own 20th-century tower house to live in? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Ian Begg (architect). You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Ian Begg (architect)), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

WikiProject banner shell

{{WikiProject banner shell}} actually doesn't do "blp=no" at all — a living person needs to have blp=yes on it, but a dead person just has that flag stripped outright rather than being kept as blp=no. Which is precisely why AWB automated the removal of that flag while I was in the process of doing something else that had nothing to do with that — it's not a thing I actively went around doing, it's a thing AWB is automatically programmed to automatically wipe out as a "general coding fix" the moment it even sees that at all. Bearcat (talk) 17:57, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bearcat, thank you for your message. I'm aware it's part of AWB general fixes, and I only stumbled across the edits I recently reverted whilst gnoming Category:Biography articles without living parameter. In retrospect I should probably have just fixed them without using the undo function, apologies. This is also something that has been raised at Wikipedia talk:AutoWikiBrowser#Request to change banner shell general fixes. I suspect the {{WikiProject banner shell}} documentation needs updating if it is seemingly now a requirement to include a "no" value for living/blp when the WikiProject Biography template is present and they aren't living. MSGJ, is my thinking right here? -Kj cheetham (talk) 18:30, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough. If that is a new requirement now, then the AWB programming team should likely also be alerted so that they can remove it from genfixes. Bearcat (talk) 18:32, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Definitely - I don't think a Phrabricator ticket has been opened yet. -Kj cheetham (talk) 18:38, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there are probably lots of things which need updating on the /doc for that template — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:26, 19 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Splitting district articles of Andhra Pradesh

Hi @Kj cheetham, how are you? As this article tell about Andhra Pradesh (1956–2014) histroy. In 2022 districts in Andhra Pradesh were reorganized to form new districts. Ex. from Krishna district to Krishna district and NTR district, from East Godavari district to Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Konaseema district, Kakinada district, East Godavari district etc.

How can split these articles so that I can have Krishna district (19562022), East Godavari district (19562022) etc. So that readers have information about the history of older administrative districts. Thanks RWILD 15:13, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

RWILDONLINE Thank you for the message! I can't comment on if it should be split, but details on splitting are found at WP:SPLIT. It sounds like you're considering WP:CONTENTSPLIT and the process itself is WP:PROSPLIT. Hope this helps! -Kj cheetham (talk) 20:12, 22 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kj cheetham Thank you RWILD 08:01, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Illieston House

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Illieston House you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by ChristieBot, on behalf of Richard Nevell -- Richard Nevell (talk) 22:23, 24 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Reviews are like buses, as the old saying goes. You wait a month for one and two turn up at once. I've put the article on hold, and think the remaining issues should be relatively straightforward to address. As another review has come through, I'm happy to wait longer than seven days for the issues to be addressed (and I expect to be AFK 1-3 March in any case). Richard Nevell (talk) 10:39, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Richard Nevell I admit I was quite surprised just how close in time those two came through! Thank you for your review and understanding. I'll focus on the other one first and see what I can do. Coincidentally I'll also be AFK 29 February to 2ish March. -Kj cheetham (talk) 11:41, 25 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Muckrach Castle

The article Muckrach Castle you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Muckrach Castle and Talk:Muckrach Castle/GA1 for issues which need to be addressed.
