Tidied up

[edit]

I've left the advert tag but did make some changes which made it less of a pitch fro the Rocky Mountaineer. A history of service and the older stations at this spot is needed; I note Nita Lake Lodge is bolded, suggesting it's meant to redirect here, but it should be part of Whistler Creekside or whatever the neighbourhood name is now...I used to live in th Jordan Lodge, built 1904, before the railway, and right next to it was "The Trap", built 1902; if the location had a name then it was Nita Lake; the Nita Lake Lodge is right on where the Jordan Lodge had been....nice spot, miss it sometimes....Skookum1 (talk) 03:53, 25 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Removed spammish content

[edit]

I haven't been back to the site since the Nita Lake Lodge is built; I had a look at the whistler.com page but from what I can see of the hotel in the provided pic, it doesn't sit atop the tracks and/or the station, so the wording about the station was entirely misleading: I did find this amusing bit of hype:

a number of exceptional amenities and services that make it a highly unique experience, such as a train station, its lakeside location, and retro themed restaurant are just a few of the distinctive features

wow, a train station ,being on a lake, and a retro themed restaurant are "highly unique"..."distinctive features". Being at the train station is no doubt part of the hotel's selling points, but that doesn't mean the station is part of the hotel, as the wording implied; there's also the Whistler Resort and Club right next door, which dates back to the '70s and is also within pissing distance of the station. If someone can show that the station is part of the same structure as the hotel, by all means cite that; but for now all that sentence seemed to do was point towards a room-booking page for the hotel. Not surprising, given this series of railway station articles from M@sk seem geared to promoting railtour services...Skookum1 (talk) 14:51, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Historical myopia

[edit]

This article is written as though this station-site has only been in use since hte current building was constructed; this is garbage; the previous building was built in the 1980s to replace an older open-shed type station once common up and down the PGE/BCR Line. This station was also originally called Jordan Lodge; the Alta Lake station was at Alta Lake, British Columbia and there was a station at Rainbow Lodge, another at Mons adn another at "Soo Valley" (Green River, the old mill opposite Emerald Estate4s, thnough another whistlestop jsut north bore the Green River name). The history of this station, as a station, begins with the incorporation of the Resort Municipality and the adoption of the name "Whistler Station", it doesn't begin with Whistler Rail Tours....Skookum1 (talk) 14:51, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
