Win Loss table

[edit]

Hey Am I allowed to move the win loss table so its where it has been in previous years? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 09:45, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Flipstatic Energy, there was a discussion at project level about restructuring the season articles in more of a chronological order, and all of the win/loss tables (once created) will be moved to post-season like it is here to act as a summary for the season, so no. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 13:15, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
User:Fliptastic Energy, the discussion 4TheWynne talks about is at WT:AFL#Season article sequence if you'd like to have your say. There were only three people in the discussion and it wasn't a 3-0 consensus, so you're welcome to reopen the discussion to seek greater consensus. Aspirex (talk) 21:21, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Round 4 2024.

[edit]

Round 4 for next year just got announced. What do I do with this information. Should I make next seasons page because it gives an idea of when the season starts and finishes? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 05:36, 19 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Too soon. There's no urgency to get this information into a season page, and the Gather Round page can capture the dates. Aspirex (talk) 05:59, 19 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Question about Notability.

[edit]

Can I ask if the fact that the derby was just Fremantle's third 100+ point win and their first since Round 20, 2013 is notable for the gamenotes? Flipstatic Energy (talk) 15:07, 12 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone please answer this Flipstatic Energy (talk) 16:17, 19 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

TV/Radio commentators is meaningless trivia

[edit]

See the section title. It will mean nothing in a few weeks time. Convince me I'm wrong. HiLo48 (talk) 05:42, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Are you referring to game articles and templates? I would agree that far too much space has been given to this in the past in grand final articles and others, and I would personally include only the network/channel name as a record of broadcaster, with a mention of the oztam ratings. I'd certainly want to get the commentators out of the infoboxes. Aspirex (talk) 06:02, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I'd also suggest coin toss be removed from the Infobox. Mentioning it in the prose is more than enough for something of such minimal consequence. Aspirex (talk) 09:29, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I think I removed it last year as unreferenced. The Background section of 2023 AFL Grand Final is headed for the same fate unless someone adds references between now and Saturday. Hawkeye7 (discuss) 06:36, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
For what it's worth, the entire 2023 AFL finals series article needs looking at – it's poorly formatted, almost entirely unsourced and, to be honest, I can't help but wonder if it's even necessary. 4TheWynne (talk contribs) 09:30, 27 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. If we used it to write one paragraph summaries of the games, it would be an appropriately encyclopedic article. But as long as the only content for each game is "this is the Xth time teams Y and Z have played in finals", it reads more like the AFL Record's pregame than an encyclopedia.
