Draft European arms initiative

Hi. Gave another sources, is it fine now? Thx.--178.255.168.45 (talk) 13:11, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think there's enough there for a stand-alone article, unfortunately. It may be WP:TOOSOON or you might have better luck inserting this into an existing article such as Russian_invasion_of_Ukraine. Qcne (talk) 14:03, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Found more relevant source at https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/03/13/ukraine-russia-war-czech-artillery-155mm-shells-avdiivka/
It can be regard only as "IMO", but this topic is quite important in current situation of Ukraine Army. 178.255.168.45 (talk) 00:41, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Today another news about this, but nothing on wikipedia. Well, I am leaving this and hope someone here will eventually take notice of lack of Ukrainian ammunition and all efforts to stop these shortages. Bye and have nice day.--178.255.168.45 (talk) 13:14, 14 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article Accept

Hi Qcne, thank you for reviewing our draft on The Fifth Avenue Hotel and giving me feedback on the inappropriate choice of language. I have updated the entry to be more objective. It would be nice if you could take another look at the entry to see if your concerns have been adequately addressed. Shspherical (talk) 12:00, 14 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Draft:TrafficJunky

Is it necessary or desirable to delete the draft article Draft:TrafficJunky before submitting the suggested redirect again (the right way, as I've learned) at WP:Article_wizard/Redirects?

Hi IP editor- you can do, just add Template:Db-g7 to the Draft. Qcne (talk) 09:37, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Ashutosh2097.
Firstly, please tell me what connection you have to the company? Are you an employee? Qcne (talk) 14:11, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
hi, i am yoga teacher and a freelance writer. I am doing this to showcase my work. Ashutosh2097 (talk) 14:28, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Are you being paid by the company to write the article about them, as a freelancer? Qcne (talk) 14:30, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
No, there is no fee involved but opportunities in the near future. Ashutosh2097 (talk) 14:40, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Updates made to draft

Hi Qcne,

You recently denied the draft I started Draft:10xTravel because it needed more reliable sources. I've added a couple of sources and I'd like to also make some notes here about the sources I used, in case that helps.

Just added today: CNN (founder of the company was interviewed as an expert on travel) and Apple Podcast (to show that the podcast is available there and has reviews and is established).

Original sources still listed: Reference 2 is an ABC News article (this was an article about "travel hacking" and the founder of the company was the subject of this article). Reference 3 is a video of an ABC News report. Reference 4 is a TED talk. Reference 6 is an AARP article about travel podcasts. Reference 8 is Chartable, which is an independent source that tracks podcasts. I think these references are solid because they are in-depth, reliable, secondary, and independent.

If you can take another look or let me know which sources aren't good enough, that would be wonderful. Thank you for your help!

Editor782 (talk) 18:22, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Editor782
I'll go through the sources one by one and explain why it doesn't meet our criteria yet:
  1. CNN: an interview with Bryce, so not independent.
  2. ABC: as above.
  3. ABC video: as above.
  4. TedX: a lecture by Bryce, so not independent.
  5. milevalue: Owned by 10x, so not independent.
  6. aarp: This is an okay source for the Podcast, but not for the company.
  7. Apple Podcasts: A primary source.
  8. chartable: user generated reviews, so not reliable.
As you can see then, that although the first three sources are reliable they fail at being independent. The next two sources also fail at being independent. And then the last three are about the Podcast, but not independent or reliable.
Sorry. Qcne (talk) 18:30, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Qcne,
Thank you for your quick reply. I was under the impression that the sources as a whole need to meet every criteria but that not necessarily every source will meet all criteria -- if that makes sense. Is that not right?
Either way, I don't see anywhere that an interview disqualifies a source as being independent when I was looking at this: Wikipedia:Reliable sources. I can understand the lecture by Bryce not being independent but I do think it helps establish him and the brand as an expert in the field, helping to establish the brand as a notable topic, plus TED is a notable/reputable brand so is that one still ok but just doesn't qualify as independent? On the other hand, the CNN article interviews multiple sources in the field, not just Bryce, so I think that one should have no problem being considered independent, if you could take another look.
I have also seen other Wikipedia entries that use a lot of interviews/profiles as sources, including another one in the same field as 10xTravel, The Points Guy.
Let me know your thoughts on these questions/comments.
Thank you again.
Editor782 (talk) 20:04, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So, the basic thing we need to do is establish if 10xTravel meets our notability criteria for companies (at WP:NORG). The link states "subject of significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject".
So far none of your sources meet that criteria because they are all linked to Bryce, the Founder, in some way. We'd need analysis/discussion/critique/interpretation of the company without Bryce being involved. That could be reputable reviews in magazines or websites, comparisons between travel sites with fairly detailed discussions, corporate news (but not just regurgitated press releases) - all specifically about the company itself. The sources that meet the reliable and secondary criteria are about Bryce or the Podcast, not the company. e.g. the CNN article is a fleeting mention of 10x, then an interview with Bryce.
Unfortunately we have many tens of thousands of poor quality articles which no one has gotten around to deleting or cleaning up. This is a volunteer project, and we certainly don't want to add more poor quality articles to the project. If you wanted to base your draft on an existing article, please choose a WP:GOOD one which has been vetted by the community as passing our minimum standards.
It might be worth checking out WP:NPEOPLE and see if Bryce is notable as a person- you might be able to re-work the draft so it is about him instead of the company.
If you want a second opinion, you can ask at WP:AFCHD or WP:TEAHOUSE. Qcne (talk) 20:14, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Qcne, — Preceding unsigned comment added by Editor782 (talkcontribs) 21:18, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the clarification.

The company started with Bryce writing most of the content on the website and being the face of the company, but now there are multiple writers and four people on the podcast (including Bryce) so I don't know about making it focus solely on him, but good to know that might be a way to re-work it.

Do you think making it about the podcast would work instead of making it about 10xTravel as a whole or about Bryce?

Thanks again.Editor782 (talk) 21:17, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Again, it depends if you can find that significant coverage in multiple reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject about the Podcast, or about Bryce himself. Qcne (talk) 08:58, 16 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Qcne,
I added three new sources to the draft, all three of which focus on 10xTravel as a business. I'm hoping those combined with the original sources will prove the topic is notable. If you could review it again, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thank you!
Editor782 (talk) 21:14, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry;
  1. Crunchbase is a depreciated source (see WP:CRUNCHBASE).
  2. The Org is just a hierarchy tree of senior management.
  3. themysterytraveler is, I am fairly sure, an AI-generated SEO-spam farm. Every single article follows the same format, with weird language. I don't think it is a reliable source.
Qcne (talk) 21:36, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Qcne,
I didn't realize that about themysterytraveler... I'll dig into that site a little more. For now I removed that and the other two. I added two additional sources though, CNN and Ramit Sethi's website.
Thank you

Hi, Qcne

Greetings, I wrote a new article! I was wondering if you thought it was good and well written? Here it is; SERVE is a Non-Profit Sri Lankan Organization founded in 1999 (1) which takes on giving children education in a way which does not disrupt their values and subcultures. SERVE focuses on helping women and children to unlock their full potential and realize their rights. This organization tries to do this all in a scientific and sustainable process.

SERVE has a lot of projects in the work but among them are the 'SAVIBALA' project, which focuses on giving pre-school children in Moratuwa, and also the quite mentionable 'SUPEKSHA' project, helping convicted mothers and educating prison staff to help and strengthen the child's rights (2).

SERVE also gives way to dance, art and computer classes in their afternoon children forums (3), and helps find a way to give people from different parts of their location, also, with the 'GOAL' workshop, giving children an opportunity to teach children Karate, Netball, and skills to make good or well-judged life choices. --SUMMARY-- SERVE is a Non-Profit Organization which empowers women and children to live their lives to their full potential with workshops, forums and classes, and their goal is to make a change in society for, respectively, unfortunate women and children. Hi @EnCyClOpEdIA VII, you will see I've just declined the draft as there is no indication that SERVE passes our notability guidelines for companies and organisations.
You must find sources that follow the below guidelines, and then summarise or paraphrase them in your own words. That should make up the content of your article. The sources must be:
- Reliable: We prefer secondary sources that are published by reputable institutions with proof of editorial oversight. Primary sources can be used for basic facts (such as a date of birth), but they should be supplemented with strong secondary sources that offer analysis, discussion, or interpretation.
- Independent: Your sources should be independent of the subject, for example not interviews with the subject, self-published, or from the subject's own website.
- Show significant coverage: Your subject should be discussed in detail in the sources you find. The sources should provide in-depth information or analysis about the subject, going beyond basic facts or promotional material.
- From multiple places: We usually require three or more separate reliable, independent, secondary sources that discuss the subject.
- Not original research: Wikipedia articles should summarise existing knowledge about a subject. Wikipedia is a tertiary source and is not a place to present new research. You should also avoid drawing your own conclusions or analyses from the sources.
If you cannot find those sources, then I am afraid SERVE would not merit an article at this time.
Hope that helps, Qcne (talk) 13:07, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you!!! EnCyClOpEdIA VII (talk) 13:14, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I added sources which give the same information, but also show that SERVE is a veritable organization to be on Wikipedia EnCyClOpEdIA VII (talk) 13:18, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @EnCyClOpEdIA VII, not enough I am afraid. I will go through the sources one by one:
  1. SERVE's own website, so not independent.
  2. SERVE's own website so not independent.
  3. Youtube: this seems to be a marketing video explaining some of the services, so is not independent.
  4. ng3o: this is an okay source, though it is connected to SERVE as they are a partner, it does explain some of their services.
  5. wiser: this is a directory listing for SERV, so not significant coverage (it just proves the organisation exists, nothing else).
  6. sol: this is an okay source.
We'd need two or three more sources that are totally independent of SERVE and discuss the organisation. The sources do not have to be online, they could be books, research papers, or magazines. Your primary sources (like SERVE's own website) can be used to prove the existence of projects etc, but you first must establish notability via the significant coverage in reliable, independent, secondary sources. Qcne (talk) 13:24, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, will do! I am so grateful for all the help, Qcne! EnCyClOpEdIA VII (talk) 14:37, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Did it!, Thanks EnCyClOpEdIA VII (talk) 14:45, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The Cloudcone is a good source. Could you ensure your in-line citations are located properly after each statement they assert, by following the tutorial at WP:INTREFVE? Currently you can see the citations are all bunched up at the end of the text instead of sprinkled throughout. Qcne (talk) 14:53, 20 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Qcne, In India more than 70+ lighthouses here. But, only 7 lighthouse stations has NAVTEX facilized Stations. this Portonovo is one of those stations. the portonovo (Parangipettai) was historically very important place for Portuguese, Dutch, British and Indian. this is notable article in India and world wide. so, please re-review my article. Thank you for your time to review it. Ahamedpno (talk) 05:36, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Ahamedpno. Please remove all the external links from the body of the text as I asked. You may convert some to in-line citations or use WP:WIKILINKS to link to other articles. But there should be no external links in the body of the text.
I would also suggest adding in context for readers unfamiliar what a "Navtex" is- I have no idea so it is a confusing first paragraph in the draft.
The description of the landscape and the sequence of lights from the lighthouse needs to be sourced, we prohibit original research. Qcne (talk) 11:22, 21 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed Article

You recently rejected my article for inadequate sourcing. I changed it so it is better sourced but have yet to hear from you as to whether what I did is sufficient. Please let me know. Thank you. Sharkphin (talk) 14:21, 27 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Sharkphin, it would be useful to link to the draft in question!
You only submitted the draft for review about two minutes ago - it would not have been in the review queue until just now so us reviewers would not have known you had made changes to it.
Unfortunately I will have to decline again as the sources you have given are inappropriate:
  1. FilmAffinity: not a reliable source.
  2. FilmAffinity: as above.
  3. IMDB: not a reliable source (see WP:IMDB)).
  4. FilmAffinity: as above.
  5. IMDB: as above.

YouGov article

Hi Qcne,

I hope you are well! Thank you for your kind feedback on Wikipedia:Teahouse regarding the YouGov article, I am very glad you think my proposed edits look fine.

As you may have seen, the Who’s Who source you called out is already used in the article, so I have not looked to change that.

I have now updated the formatting as you suggested and wanted to ask if you would be able to implement the suggested edits?

Thank you for your time

That's been done. :) Qcne (talk) 17:38, 29 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Qcne Thank you for your help with all of this!
I have found a more authoritative source about YouGov Profiles which presents a more accurate representation of it. I have had a go at a first draft here:
//
Also in 2014, YouGov launched Profiles, an audience segmentation tool.[1]
//
The leading independent pollster ratings have also just been issued on 538.com (https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/pollster-ratings/). I would be interested in your view about where this information could be included – potentially under methodology?
I have had a go at drafting this:
//
In February 2024, FiveThirtyEight ranked YouGov as fourth out of more than 300 pollsters in its ratings, based on analysis of 624 YouGov polls.[2]
//
Thanks again for all your help so far and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

I've added those both in. The 538 citation and sentence could be construed as a little promotional: I am putting it in as it's an edge case but another Editor may remove it. Qcne (talk) 08:54, 4 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Octavius J. Johnson

Yes we all know IMDB is self edited and therefore an unsafe. The stub I created does not rely on that. It relies on another, less discussed but just as well established, Wikiprinciple: tv shows and films are their own references, the same way that eg novels and plays are. We know Gertrude is Hamlet’s mother - and do not need another reference in addition to the play Hamlet. We know Octavius J. Johnson starred in those films/tv shows because the credits show that.

I am not going to carry on putting this right but you might like to. 31.124.106.27 (talk) 09:53, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello IP editor- no your draft does not, it only has a single source to IMDb? Qcne (talk) 13:59, 2 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As I thought, you do not understand. No source is needed, just as no source is needed to write Gertrude is Hamlet’s mother. 31.124.106.27 (talk) 07:33, 16 March 2024 (UTC) The play ‘Hamlet’ *is* the source. 31.124.106.27 (talk) 07:35, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Colt Balok page revision

Hi Qcne,

I recently sent you a message about how to open up the page on Colt Balok again for resubmission. It was originally rejected as not sufficiently notable. I have tried to include several secondary sources in the proper tone and POV to help resolve this, and would love to resubmit. I got a notification that you left me a response/message, but I'm not sure how to open it. I click on the notification and it takes me to a page where I cannot see your comment. It shows your comment as occurring on Feb 23 2024, but the most recent comments I can view are from Feb 28, 2024... If there is any additional help you can give me I would much appreciate it. Thank you. MoniqueEscamilla (talk) 20:31, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question

I only created the page for historic reasons, I don't want the LinkChain page to as an advertisement but informational as its technology and creation behind it is unique and has not be done before. Globalinsightusa (talk) 23:35, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Globalinsightusa. Your draft contains four sources, none of which prove that this company meets our special notability criteria for companies/organisations. I also do believe your username is against our username policy, please change it. Let me know if you have any questions. Qcne (talk) 23:38, 9 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Really, @R.B.Everything? You didn't think sharing referral links to a crypto exchange would not be counted as spam? Are you stupid? You're a good editor, but that doesn't excuse this comment. Don't do it again.--Bbb23 (talk) 22:57, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bbb23 You're right, of course. I've had a bad weekend and am in a bad mood, and taking that out on editors. I'm off to bed and will take a break. Qcne (talk) 23:01, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about that. I hope things improve tomorrow.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:03, 10 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

"Are you stupid"

Please don't say that. Spammers have no common sense in that regard and no concept of our values and our hatred of spam. I always try to be more polite than the situation warrants, because they are not really trying to be dense or obnoxious. Their values and goals are just completely and incompatibly geared to promoting their whatever. Thanks. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 00:20, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Draft:Tiffany Henyard

Would you consider re-reviewing Draft:Tiffany Henyard, which is again up for AFC. It's been awaiting review for some time now. SecretName101 (talk) 08:32, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi :@SecretName101. That is looking a lot better. Some feedback:
  1. The Daily Mail and Daily Caller are both depreciated sources so shouldn't be used.
  2. The US Sun is generally unreliable, so we'd prefer a different source.
  3. Not sure how relevant the Good Burger restaurant section is?
  4. A few sentences throughout the draft are written in a non-neutral way. Be careful you're not using the Wikipedia voice to lead readers down a particular opinion: you should instead neutrally and with balance report what reliable sources state: that's all. Any emotive language should be a quote.
Qcne (talk) 14:02, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Qcne those sources are not used to cite information. They are used in a list that provides examples of international/national publicstions covering Henyard. If you’d read the claim they follow and the head of the cite list they are in, it’s simply examples of international and national coverage. This multi-source cite is simply used to support the claim that she had received attention in such publications, not to support anything else. SecretName101 (talk) 15:46, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Which sentences concern you? SecretName101 (talk) 15:48, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
