Showtune

Hi SFTVLGUY2 Yes, that's me. Thanks for responding - very kind of you.

I really appreciate the editing work you did on the body of the text for Showtune, and also the clean-up you did on Jerry's page. Very professional.

For the Showtune page, Jerry and I would like the song list kept as we had it, because the core concept of Showtune is how the songs are juxtaposed into scenes and song-cycles. Also, the counterpoints, preludes, reprises and such are very integral to the concept and should appear in the scene/song list.

We conceived Showtune specifically to show that a musical revue can be a lot more than just a typical rolodex of songs - i.e. "song after song after song". Please read about Showtune at the Musical Theatre International Website. Here's a link to the synopsis page:

Warm regards, Paul Gilger and Jerry Herman

Dear SFTVLGUY2: Thank you so much for restoring the scene/song list for Showtune. It's very much appreciated. If you ever attend a production of the show and I'm in attendance, please introduce yourself!

Once again warm regards, Paul Gilger (and Jerry Herman) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 208.106.25.183 (talkcontribs) 00:41, 3 December 2006 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks so much for creating this article. I had never heard of Ms. McDonald until today, when I saw a YouTube clip and became an instant fan. Your article gave me all the background info I was looking for. Jeffpw 11:38, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I envy you having seen her live, and getting to see the New Year's Eve concert. It was the review of that concert that made me search her out. All of her albums are available here in Holland, via iTunes, and I just downloaded Happy Songs based on your recommendation. By the way, if you haven't checked her stuff out on YouTube, there are several beautiful clips, among which are her singing "Love Changes Everything" and a duet of "Tonight" with Mandy Patinkin, another favorite of mine. Happy New Year, and happy editing! Jeffpw 13:47, 2 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your recent changes to the article, which restore the work by previous editors and combine both your editorial instincts and some of my suggestions. I think the new version is the best yet. I added a little date info and one minor clarification. Best regards, -- Ssilvers 22:12, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I greatly disagree with your assessment that the articles should be re-combined. One of the main reasons why I split them is the fact that they are both notable, award-winning works and that the page would have been swamped by two infoboxes and two separate plot summaries, list of awards and nominations, etc. When I first saw The Accidental Tourist, it contained mostly information about the film and not the novel, which was absurd. I agree that it does not make much sense to have both of the articles as stubs, but that was never my intention. Instead, I intend to go back and greatly revise and add to both of these articles, as I have done to other splits in the past. It is merely time that has been an issue. If you feel you can add to either the film or the novel article, please do jump in. Either way, I feel it best to have them separated. María: (habla ~ cosas) 16:23, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize. I typed too hastily; I misunderstood your message on my talk page, and understand now that you were not suggesting that the pages be recombined. Thank you for adding more info to both pages. María: (habla ~ cosas) 16:27, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
This was unnecessary and rude. If you have something more to say to me, say it on my talk page and refrain from leaving passive aggressive digs about my contributions to Wikipedia on an article's talk page. María: (habla ~ cosas) 16:41, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As much as I still want to be offended by your previous comments, I do agree that I have been hasty in the past while splitting articles. Looking back over my previous splits, I see where the articles lack. I've already gone back to a couple and added some more information, but I aim to do this sooner in the future. You do have a very valid point. Decorum may make the point easier to take, however. María: (habla ~ cosas) 18:21, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nice work on the article cleanup! Verne Equinox 22:13, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Skyring

Hi, i have noticed that you have had problems with Skyring too. It would seem to me that he has contributed nothing of any worth to the site and instead spends his time pointlessly changing date formats. Wikipedia is an American website and it would appear most people prefer the American format {personally i don't care, as long as it's accurate}. I wouldn't usually go to this trouble but i feel that Skyring is disruptive and rude, he doesn't appear to be contributing anything meaningful to the site and to prove my point he was blocked for 1 year just recently. I thought maybe it was something that an administrater could look into. I just wanted to see what other people who have had issues with him thought.CEP78 03:11, 28 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Jamaica (musical

On the whole I saw the point of your earlier edit, and was impressed with your improvement of my original (my very first actually) article (I am also OldGeek!) - but you managed - while improving this article, to delete some interesting and relevant facts that had nothing to do with POV. This musical probably wouldn't have seen the light of day if it hadn't been for the Hollywood blacklist, although I do take your original point that the fact that this comes out in the satirical nature of the lyrics is a bit POV. It IS dated, but it is hardly POV to point out that this is mainly because the craze for calypso is long over. And so on with my other edits.

Let's put them back, shall we? or at least tell me what is wrong with them, IYO.

Grease: You're The One That I Want

No problem. Thanks for the reply. I am glad that you agreed with my reasoning (re: the blue links on the winners' names). Thank you. (JosephASpadaro 02:01, 6 April 2007 (UTC))[reply]

Template

Hi! Thanks for your thanks about the Comden and Green template, it took more thought and false starts than you could believe. I've been following the discussion about the form and content of musicals articles with interest--I have no desire to get involved so I'll just try to keep out of the way and below the firing range.

By the way, a thousand thanks for "The Baltmore Waltz" --I'd like to fill in some more of the blanks on more of Vogel's works, and your help would be appreciated (maybe even critical). Regards,JeanColumbia 12:06, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Edits in my user space

Hey SFTVLGUY2,

I'm just leavin a quick note. I've been on a long wikipedia sabbatical due to school and all but wanted to leave you a quick note. I see that your creating a whole bunch of new articles about Musical Theatre. That's awesome! I hope all is going well. Just wanted to let you know that you really don't need to edit the "red link list" within my user space. It's left over from the beginning of a project that is now part of the Musical Theatre Wikiproject. I really don't mind you changing it, but it's sort of frowned upon to edit within other user's user space. So ya, just wanted to let you know. Happy editing! --omtay38 02:32, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:NancyDrew2.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:NancyDrew2.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:31, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
