I'm going to come back to this page when I have more time. The first thing that concerns me is that we say Wally is generally considered the greatest player of all time. I don't doubt that, and I'm a huge fan of Wally (what Queenslander isn't!) but Wikipedia doesn't say that kind of thing. We like to source someone saying that he's the greatest. Possibly several people. I'll be looking to say that he is a TV presenter and a former rugby league player and then put that he's considered the greatest by... whoever I can find. Does that sound okay? Any thoughts on how we can go on to improve this article from there? Grace Note 07:17, 18 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It's less POV to say that 'many / most commentators say that he was the greatest player ever' or 'he is widely considered the greatest ever' if you can't find someone authoritative to quote.GordyB 12:22, 8 Jun 2005 (UTC)

He wasn't even the greatest player of his era --Charlie The Wonder Dog 07:43, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Should we put some mention of Agro in it? Lochok 07:43, 30 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

How about "...he is considered in some quarters as the greatest rugby league player"? (I can just hear the footsteps of Andrew Johns fans...:P) --Alexio 02:18, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I think you'll find it very hard to attribute quotes to Lewis being the greatest ever. Even Queenslanders generally agree Johns is much better 137.166.4.130 23:58, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

still considered a hero in West Yorkshire today

An over the top statement and without any source to back it up. Should it be toned down or omitted altogether? RichardLowther 17:25, 21 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Know any league fans in West Yorkshire? I didn't write that sentence and I don't know the situation there, so haven't changed it thus far. Perhaps soemthing like "he is still well regarded amongst rugby league fans in West Yorkshire today"? I dunno, I'm an Aussie.--Jeff79 00:46, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am surrounded by RL fans in West Yorkshire! (I am a RU fan from Wakefield) I would suggest a rewrite on the lines of 'He remains a favourite of Wakefield Trinity (Wildcats) fans who named their fanzine 'Wally Lewis is coming'" RichardLowther 17:15, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
