"Get Me Bodied"
Song

"Get Me Bodied" is a R&B song written by Beyoncé Knowles, Sean Garrett, Solange Knowles, Angela Beyince, Makeba Riddick, and Swizz Beatz for Knowles' second studio album, B'Day (2006). Produced by Swizz Beatz, Sean Garrett, and Beyoncé, it was released as the album's fifth single in the United States on July 10, 2007,[1] and has since reached number 68 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Recently, Get Me Bodied has been nominated by VH1 Soul VIBE Awards Special as Video of the Year.[2]

The single's music video was directed by Anthony Mandler and primarily produced by Kim Bradshaw of Box Fresh Pictures. The version used in the video is the extended mix on the Deluxe Edition of B'day. It was shot over two days in early February 2007 and choreographed by Rhapsody, Todd Sams, Clifford McGhee, and Bethany Strong. Knowles' mother and stylist, Tina Knowles created over sixty outfits for filming.[3]

Beyoncé described the clip as an "instructional video":[3] "It tells you how to do all the dances — it's modern, it's retro, it's vintage, it's stylized, it's all of those things put together. It's a lot of dances from the '60s, a lot of Bob Fosse movement, Southern movement, Jamaican influences — and the Frug, from Sweet Charity. That's the inspiration."[3] For the shoot Knowles asked former Destiny's Child bandmates Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams, and sister Solange to appear alongside her in the video. "It really sets the tone of the video, because you feel like you're there for part of the experience."[3]

Since the extended version of "Get Me Bodied" was used for the shoot, the video has been re-edited into a shorter version for play on shows like BET's 106 & Park countdown. So far, it has peaked at number 10 on Yahoo! Music´s Top 100 and on number 3 on its R&B countdown (both peaks were attained with "Beautiful Liar" still holding the number 2 and number 1 spots respectively). As of July 5, 2007, Get Me Bodied reached a peak of #1 on the Top 100 videos on iTunes. As of July 17, 2007, Get Me Bodied Peaked at #9 106th & Park.

Another re-edit of the video was produced for the Timbaland remix featuring Voltio. Although Voltio does not actually appear in the video, during his parts scenes that were not used in the original are used in place. During these scenes beyoncé is not seen mouthing the words and more attention is paid to the dancers instead.

Chart performance

Due to a popular video, the song started to gain heavy airplay, especially from Urban, Rhythmic and Urban Adult Contemporary radio formats, during the time when her fourth single, "Beautiful Liar" was about to be released. The song garnered impressive airplay on its own merit due to requests initially. It first appeared on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at number 47. After about two months of moderate airplay, it started to pick up more plays in the beginning of May 2007 and has officially became a top ten hit on Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. "Get Me Bodied" has also charted on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at number 68. Just like "Upgrade U", "Get Me Bodied" experienced unsolicited success at radio before it was officially released in July 2007. It has become Beyonce's lowest charting single on The Hot 100.

Get Me Bodied debuted at number 48 on Portuguese Top 50.
