Ringo Brown is a fictional character in the Network Ten soap opera Neighbours, portrayed by Sam Clark since January 2007.

History

Introduction

Ringo first appeared on the show, spying on his big brother Frazer (Ben Lawson). He followed Frazer around to his house, when Zeke Kinski (Matthew Werkmeister) (who was cleaning Frazer's house at the time) spotted him outside the window. Zeke later spotted Ringo at Lassiter's Lake and tackled him, though Harold Bishop (Ian Smith) broke up the fight and Ringo ran off. He later went to Number 30 and met up with Frazer, when he told him that he wanted to leave home, so Frazer let him stay for a few weeks, and longer only if his parents let him. Ringo moved into Number 30 after that. Ringo recognised Rosetta (Natalie Saleeba) as his brother Johnny's ex-fiancée, and introduced himself to Rosie as Rick Yeats, wanting to have a new identity like Frazer. He also has a crush on Rachel Kinski (Caitlin Stasey), and made the banner for her new online magazine 'The Blogzine' read 'B.U.N.S', which angered her greatly. Unable to act casually around Rachel, he asked for Pepper Steiger's (Nicky Whelan) advice and also mentioned that he knew about her fling with Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis). Despite his best efforts, Rachel lashed out angrily at him when he tried to find a common interest between them, upset after her break up with Stingray Timmins (Ben Nicholas). Ringo is also good at carpentry, and was finding it hard to adjust to his new name 'Rick'.

Rachel and Ringo

He also sent Rachel an anonymous Valentine's card, to which Zeke commented whoever sent it was gutless. Ringo admitted that "no wonder he didn't want to make himself known, Rachel would probably bite their head off".

Rachel and Ringo do get together but have a break because of Stingray's sudden death and he agrees with Rachel when she asks him for a break in their relationship and Ringo says he will do anything he can to help Rachel grieve.

Rachel and Ringo's relationship has now fully blossomed but since being in detention for causing a stir with the then-principal of the high school Tom Scully (Andrew Larkins) for being involved in several pranks with Rachel, Zeke and Bree Timmins (Sianoa Smit-McPhee). When Tom received a call from his ex-lover Susan Kennedy, he left immediately. Lolly Allen (Adelaide Kane) came into the school looking for the others. She accidentally locked the door so they couldn't escape. Ringo found a soft drink and wanted everyone to play spin the bottle. The bottle landed on Ringo and Lolly, Rachel pretended she was fine if they kissed even though she wasn't. Ringo then told Rachel she was the only girl for him and they made up. Rachel only lately found out that Ringo was actually 17, as Rachel assumed he was 16 and Ringo didn't say otherwise.

Carmella and Ringo

Recently it emerged that Ringo and the older Carmella Cammeniti (Natalie Blair) share feelings for each other. When they came close to kissing, Ringo decided it wasn't fair to keep Rachel in the dark and dumped her in favour of Carmella. However, Carmella felt that she couldn't go out with a seventeen year old and tried to deny her feelings for him, despite the fact that she constantly flirted with him.

Bus crash

More recently Ringo was involved in a bus crash with other residents. Ironically while the other passengers escaped with minor injuries, Ringo was badly hurt and for a while, went into an induced coma. Whilst he was still recovering Frazer told him Carmella didn't love him anymore. Heartbroken, Ringo went to find her and confront her at Sky's going away party. She told him the truth and he was crushed. He then went back home with his mother, but Frazer then convinced him otherwise and Ringo has now moved back in with Frazer.

Eating disorder

Recently, Ringo has stopped eating, and started over-exercising. Pepper recognised these as symptoms of anorexia, so she tested her theory by adding large amounts of salt into Ringo's meals. When he told her that the meal was delicious, her suspicions were confirmed, and she confronted him about it. He denied it, but Pepper still thinks he is anorexic. Before Pepper left, she warned school counseller Daniel Fitzgerald (Brett Tucker) to keep an eye on Ringo.
