Mortician

Mortician is a brutal death metal two piece band from Yonkers, New York founded in 1989. [1] They have released most of their albums since the House by the Cemetery EP on Relapse Records but have released their latest album on their own label, Redrum records.[2] They have toured several times through America and Europe. The band is heavily inspired by horror movies, which is expressed in the lyrics, the artwork and the use of samples throughout their discography. They're mainly characterized by their brutally heavy riffs.

History

Mortician was formed in 1989 under the name "Casket". The band's name was later changed to Mortician after writing their first song, "Mortician"[3].

The band began using a drum machine after original drummer Matt Sicher was dismissed in 1991[4]. However, when performing live, a replacement drummer is hired.

In 2005, vocalist Will Rahmer was arrested by Polish police for stealing a taxi following the band's performance in Zielona Gora.

Movies sampled in Mortician songs

Mortician often use audio samples from horror movies as intros to their songs. This has become just as much of a trademark as their low frequency sound. Below is a partial list of some of the films Mortician have sampled.
