Hi Pegasus! You deleted File:PolakSoieEtLumieres.JPG, on the justification that there was no explanation for its use. I had however explained that it was the cover of a book by Christian Polak to illustrate the work of this author. Do you think another rationale would have been better. Do you have objections if I upload again the image with a better rationale? Regards PHG (talk) 18:19, 2 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I do object - a fair use image of a book cover can only be used for critical commentary on the book itself, not its author. More appropriate in this article would be a free-licensed photo of the author himself. Pegasus «C¦ 01:51, 3 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

hey pegasus - hang on, okay? i'm simons manager and i WROTE the bio from his website.

how do i fix it then? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sarahmckem (talkcontribs) 01:38, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

We assume the bio is copyrighted since you have made no statement to the contrary on the website. Since the text is copyrighted, we cannot allow you to post it unmodified on Wikipedia, because all Wikipedia article must be licensed under the GFDL. The GFDL allows distribution, modification, and sharing of changes to the text by anyone, for commercial and non-commercial purposes.
Now you have two choices:
  1. If you want to release the text of Simon Bruce's biography under the aforementioned GFDL license, either:
    1. Put a notice on the original page, to inform the world you release the text as GFDL, or
    2. Email permissions-en at wikimedia dot org confirming that you want to release the text of the original page under GFDL license. It is not sufficient to simply give permission to us for using the text.
  2. If you do not want to release the text under GFDL, write a totally different version on this page and ask the folks at deletion review to look over it. Be forewarned that in this case, you must write a version that is substantially different from the original - we will be checking and comparing. If the new version is not substantially different, the page will be deleted.
In either case, the text must satisfy at least one of the criteria for musicians' biographies, and there also must be two or more third-party reliable sources that confirm the criteria(s) have been satisfied. If WP:MUSIC criteria are not satisfied, the page will also be deleted. Pegasus «C¦ 02:04, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ok thank you, that's all fine and I can do that. Where do I work on the page in order to resubmit it? I barely had time to add references or 3rd party links of newspaper articles etc because the page was taken down so fast. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sarahmckem (talkcontribs) 02:14, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Here. Make a Deletion review request when done. And remember it needs to be substantially different if you want to keep the copyright on your original. Pegasus «C¦ 02:25, 4 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deleting My Fund Raising Instruction page

Aloha Pegasus,

Can you explain in more detail why my page was deleted. The page explained what the processes are in running a successful fund raising event. Nothing in the page referenced a particular organization or endorsed a particular fund raising company. What must I do to revamp the article for it to be approved? Let me know. God Bless. Portection of the Salam Yiti Page

Hi Pegasus! You deleted Salam Yiti Page, on the justification that there was spam, multiple creations. I have been trying to understand the logic behind posting an article on Wikipedia about Salam Yiti a project being developed in Oman by Sama Dubai. The text i have depicted is taken from the official website of the project as well as aticles published about the project but still it always been rejected based on serveral reasons one being blant adverstising. I do object the protection of the page and i would appreciate if you could assist in posting the article about the project.

Regards —Preceding unsigned comment added by Yousef112 (talkcontribs) 08:36, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you had not repeatedly inserted the same spam into the Sama Dubai article [3] [4], I might believe you. But now, I don't. For a page to be non-advertising, it should be written according to neutral point of view and cite multiple third-party reliable sources. Pegasus «C¦ 02:15, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to create the article Icarus (band). I realise that various attempts at non-notable artists have been attempted before (deletion log), and that the page has been protected for good reason. However, I believe this Icarus is notable - examples of non-trivial third party reliable sources being found here, here, here and here. The band have released albums on Output Recordings and The Leaf Label, and have a track featured on Late Night Tales: Four Tet. Can the page be unblocked so that I can create the article? delettion of Carlos Aveline page

I read the reason for the deletion and disagree. Not sure how you determine who is of significance and who is not, but im attempting to document the only 4 brazilian jiu jitsu black belts world champion Mario Sperry ever produced. (may be more, im still researching). Might not mean much to you, but these guys are legends in the jiu jitsu world that have trained with all the greats back in the day. There are 91 other brazilian jiu jitsu black belts list here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Brazilian_Brazilian-Jiu-Jitsu_practitioners, why is this one being singled out for exclusion? What is the objective criteria for making this list? Neutralone (talk) 06:52, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"how you determine who is of significance and who is not" - WP:BIO, but I made a mistake in deletion. Pegasus «C¦ 07:49, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Further question I need help with. Many of these top level black belts that have competed in the World Championships in brazil, are extremely difficult to get references for. Before very recent years, this stuff simply was never documented on the internet by the brazilians. San Diego has a very large population of old BJJ black belts that know the history who have migrated here, they were there, and I would like to document this stuff, but references, especially on the internet, barely exist at all. I know some people believe if you cant google it, it doesnt exist, but that is not the case. Brazil is the home of the top guys, everyone knows who they are and what they did in the community, but they have been terrible in keeping a recorded record anywhere. Any advice on how to get some of this stuff on to wikipedia without immediately being constantly rejected? The only "official like" references may exist on old printed newspapers in some BJJ school somewhere in brazil :( Neutralone (talk) 16:11, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
As long as it is a printed source, it can be cited. This includes offline newspapers with no internet version. Pegasus «C¦ 23:10, 9 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your opinion is requested: Can we allow anyone who may just merit an article section or at most, an article stub, as a SONGWRITER (in accordance to WP:MUSIC) to post links to his web sites as a producer and mastering engineer, which he doesn't qualify as per WP:Bio? Also, the subject just showed up to defend his article page at its talk page [5], a clear telltale sign that he violated WP:MUSIC (See: WP:MUSIC#cite_note-selfpromo-0.

.If you agree that something is wrong in here, please vote to delete and /or to take away all external links that promote him as an engineer and to reduce the article to a songwriter's stub. Thanks. Jrod2 (talk) 16:15, 7 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

CDC Games article deletion - please restore

Hello, please restore the CDC Games article. We are in process of creating it and extending the references. CDC Games is notable for several reasons:

CDC Games is a publisher of multiple hit video game titles that have articles in Wikipedia including Yulgang, Lord of the Rings Online, EVE Online, Soldier Force, and Lunia. CDC Games is the first publisher of a major type of online video games in China called free to play which is now the industry standard method of running online games. CDC Games is the first Chinese company to become a global publisher of video games. CDC games has over 140 million customers in China and hundreds of thousands more outside of China who seek informaiton on the company. CDC Games currently runs 3 of the top 10 video games in China.

There are currently dozens of other video game publishers in Wikipedia including Blizzard, Electronic Arts, Nexon (whose article we used to format CDC Games), Atari, etc... CDC Games is a major competitor of all of these companies in China.

Thanks,

You removed the speedy tag from this image on the grounds that it was in use, and should be replaced by Image:The Sri Lanka Army Flag And Crest.JPG first. This is not the case. The image isn't in use, and the issue is less about it being a copy than it being a blatant copyright infringement. Nitraven, the uploader of the image, didn't like that Image:The Sri Lanka Army Flag And Crest.JPG was removed from Template:Military of Sri Lanka (see history), and uploaded a reduced size version of the image, and claimed he owns copyright. This is a copyright violation. As such, the image needs to be removed under CSD I9. I've added speedy tags to this image again, and hope you see clear to deleting it or allowing another admin to delete it. Thank you, --Hammersoft (talk) 13:15, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Kelso Home

Just so you know.. about your edit, the Kelso Home redirect is convenient, but the page is present not as another name for, a pseudonym, a nickname, or a synonym for the Kelso Home for Girls. The Kelso Home organization was not a physical place (like an orphanage)... it was actually an incorporated entity created by Thomas Kelso before his death that existed to benefit the orphans, as coordinated by the Methodist Episcopal Church. The organization ultimately gained national status and was renamed the Methodist Board of Childcare. For an example... there was also the Strawbridge Home for Boys, split off in the '20s, that also got funding from the Kelso Home organization and coordination by the Methodist Church. I am in contact with the Methodist Board of Childcare on some things, but don't really feel I would ever be able to tackle a page for that organization - which would be the current Kelso Home organization.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Teda13 (talkcontribs)

When we can write more about the organisation, we can un-redirect the page. Right now the redirect is just for convenience in the absence of more content. Pegasus «C¦ 23:12, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Pegasus, You have removed the company logo for the Digital TV Group that I uploaded. I do have permission to upload this logo as we wish to improve the look of the Wikipedia Entry for our organisation. The logo can be verified by going to our website www.dtg.org.uk. Many thanks, Simon —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sgauntlett (talkcontribs) 20:12, 21 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You uploaded it and declared it was uploaded "for use only with permission from the company". We can't use images with such copyright terms. You might wish to re-upload it if it can be used under the non-free content criteria. In that case, it is necessary to add a template and text that explain how the logo is being used under the criteria. Pegasus «C¦ 04:17, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, it was definitely not "fairly straightforward" as far as Wikipedia standards go. RE: Deleting Natali Del Conte Page

Hi I am the person who re-posted the page. I spoke to an admin about why it was removed and found that the reason it was original removed was due to the fact that at that time the person wasn't considered significant.

Since then this person has become a host of CNET and has been used as a tech guest on the Today Show (NBC) and other significant TV programs. So the feeling was that the reason for the original deletion was no longer valid. This was the reason for the re-post of information.

Also I am somewhat confused why this page was ever removed for the person not being significant enough when other pages of far less significant (fictional and real) people exist on Wikipedia. I completely agree with the idea of having rules but feel it is also important to follow them in as a consistent an approach as possible.

So therefore with great respect for the fine work done on this site, I would like to request a review of this judgment if possible.

All the best,

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Paul peek.jpg)

Thanks for uploading Image:Paul peek.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:18, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Natali Del Conte

Strangely, the page I posted about this technology reporter has been deleted. No clear explanation has been given for the reason. After opening the page myself, I monitored the content once in a while to be sure it was in accordance to the rules of Wikipedia.

I know this has happened before but nobody informed the creator of the page it was scheduled for deletion, this would seem like a reasonable step to take.

In any case, expect me to read the rules again and enter this page one more time with content considered appropriate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ptousign (talkcontribs) 20:43, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shop5 deletion. I can fix it!

Hi Pegasus,

An article that I created today (Shop5) was immediately deleted. I am quite new to Wikipedia and would love the opportunity to amend the article so that it meets any and all of Wikipedia's standards.

Also, I was completely unaware that the article would be fully deleted (and not just pulled from the live site), so I do not have a copy of the latest version of the content. Would it be possible to have the content returned so that I might work on the article?

Thanks so much for your time.

Haleypoland (talk) 02:05, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I will consider restoring the page if you tell me, right here, a list of what reliable sources you will be including to ensure that this article satisfies our notability guidelines for websites, which requires two or more of such sources. Typical reliable sources are newspaper or magazine reports that discuss the website in detail, and are independent of the website's owner(s). If no reliable sources are given the article will not be restored. Pegasus «C¦ 02:11, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please read the whole article again, WP is not a blog/primary source and the article has no encyclopedic content (chat-like comments "We now have around 7 full songs. After their first show at our high school Scott our guitarist decided to leave the band because he was not into the whole band thing any more. After Scott left they decided to jamn with our friend Micah and they all just instantly clicked and Micah was in." and notability concerns [7][8] -genere/band mentioned only on youtube, myspace, blogs and forums).{{nocontent}} {{bio}} Iunaw 12:55, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"WP is not a blog/primary source and the article has no encyclopedic content" makes the article eligible for editing, prod, or AfD, but not speedy deletion. Pegasus «C¦ 12:57, 15 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You can edit and rewrite it as much as you want, it won't be encyclopedic content (perhaps in years, but not yet). Google gives 45 results for "chelpedo", most of them youtube and myspace links, as i said. I'll wait a prudential time before tagging it for speedy again, as it *is* an A7 criteria candidate. There are zillions of bands that experiment with new genres and this one does not indicate why it is important or significant. Iunaw 02:04, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
You can prod it still... and since "Chelpedo punk is one of the evolutions of anarcho-punk and hardcore punk...", it is a musical genre, not a group. I don't understand why you avoid WP:PROD like the plague, as if adding {{prod}} to the page will give you smallpox and adding {{db-band}} won't. Oh and I watch my deleted contribs so if you think you can inappropriately tag for CSD again you are very, very badly mistaken. Be forewarned. Pegasus «C¦ 02:07, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry, i won't tag it after seeing that you still disagree and that you really have interest in this article about a unknown musical genre that has 40 hits on google and the high-school-band that created it.. It's all yours, good luck! Iunaw 22:43, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, if my speedy deletion is a mistake it can be rectified just as quickly. The only thing you have to do, before I can consider restoring the page, is to give me two or more articles in reliable sources - independent of ADVANCE - that have discussed the company in detail. This is required according to our notability guidelines for companies. Pegasus «C¦ 01:50, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pegasus - thanks for explaining with practical steps. I will be sure to have this info at the ready the next time I upload a new entry. Good luck to you and yours as you travel the highways and biways of life. Rolah (talk) 17:33, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Commons images

I move a lot of images to the Commons, and I normally do tag with db-i8 - the only time I tag with {{db}} is when MetsBot malfunctions on deletion screening due to idiosyncrasies with odd licenses or incorrect/indirect sourcing on the en Wikipedia. That was the case with the images I tagged tonight - three images with the oddball/obsolete {{GFDL 1.2}} license that will likely be deleted shortly. I suppose I could nominate at IfD but it seems kind of silly when the image is clearly a redundant local copy. Kelly hi! 03:46, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, just a heads-up since you deal with these deletions...I've also been been running into problems with Flickr-sourced images on Commons when it comes to deletion of local copies here. When I run across a Flickr image here on en Wikipedia, I will normally upload it to Commons directly from Flickr using Flickr Upload Bot (as opposed to using CommonsHelper) so that the license is verified, all attribution details are included, and the highest-resolution version is uploaded. MetsBot tends to choke on this type of "duplicate" because the sourcing and resolution are often slightly different from the en copy. I told Mets501 about it, but he hasn't figured it out yet...in the meantime these images have to be nominated for speedy manually. Kelly hi! 04:14, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Brazzers article and Brittany Burke article

1) I saw that my Brazzers article was deleted tonight (after working 3+ hours on it!) It said that it does not have significance, however, Brazzers is on par with Vivid Entertainment, Naughty America, Diabolic Video, Club Jenna, Wicked Pictures as an adult film company, all of which have articles on wikipedia. Additionally, I had started to list the actresses that work for Brazzers, many of which had existing links on here. I do feel that it is a legitimate topic.

2) I completed an article on Brittany Burke (another adult actress) which I think turned out quite well, and would welcome your feedback. I do have a question: How can the title "Brittany Burke" be fixed? (Right now the "b" in Burke is lower case).

Thanks for your help!

Regarding Brazzers, there was no indication of how the company is significant, according to our notability guidelines for companies.
As for Brittany Burke, you added a photo of her but did not say where you got it from. We don't allow photos without source information on Wikipedia, so it will be gone if you don't tell us. Pegasus «C¦ 12:34, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am the creator of Relevant traffic page, my old user name was Relevant Traffic

Hi,I just saw that you have deleted my user name and everything I had created with it. I do understand that the user name was not according to wikipedias guidelines but the article I was writing was, according to what I have read. I also was still working on the article, adding more links. Why do you call my article "blatant advertising" when for example Tele 2 is not, and that was the site I had as my reference. Could you please restore the page, under my new username, so I can keep working on the article to make it publishable please? Many thanks Tesswork, (used to be Relevant Traffic) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tesswork (talkcontribs) 15:15, 19 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

My recent RfA

Thank you for supporting my RfA, which unfortunately didn't succeed. The majority of the opposes stated that I needed more experience in the main namespace and Wikipedia namespace and talk space, so that is what I will do. I have made a list and I hope I will be able to get through it. I will go for another RfA in about three month's time and I hope you will be able to support me then as well. If you have any other comments for me or wish to be notified when I go for another RfA, please leave them on my talk page. If you wish to nominate me for my next RfA, please wait until it has been about three months. I will not be checking back to this page so if you would like to comment or reply please use my talk page. Thanks again for participating in my RfA! ·Add§hore· Talk/Cont 07:03, 20 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ojai Music Festival

Pegasus: I did not create the Ojai Music Festival page which you deleted on 23 February 2008, but I made significant changes/amendments to that article, complete with third-party references and quotes from various newspapers, external websites, etc. I'd be happy to recreate the article using acceptable sources, but I don't want to do it from scratch. Is there any way to recover the edits I made or are they gone forever? Westofpch (talk) 02:43, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I will restore the page to User:Westofpch/Ojai Music Festival very shortly. Please note that if the page is not cleaned up according to Wikipedia guidelines (such as neutral point of view, notability and spam), it may still be deleted at some point in the future. Deletion of Relevant Traffic

Hi, I am waiting for an answer from you regarding te deletion of both my user name: Relevant Traffic (which I understand why!) and the content I had created for Relevant Traffic. WOuld you please restore what I had created so I can work on it accoring to Wikipedia rules. Many thanks Tesswork —Preceding unsigned comment added by Tesswork (talkcontribs) 11:35, 21 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There was no assertion of why, or how, this company is significant according to our notability guidelines for companies. In addition the prose appeared to be solely intended to promote the subject, not at all appropriate for Wikipedia. Thus it was deleted.
I will restore the page to User:Tesswork/Relevant Traffic very shortly. However I advise you to write the new article from scratch to make it comply with the neutral point of view policy and the aforementioned notability guidelines. When you are done writing, make a request at deletion review to see if there is consensus to move the page back into the article space. Pegasus «C¦ 12:12, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Page restored. Please note that it might be re-deleted at some point in the future if the prose continues to fall short of Wikipedia guidelines. I cannot promise you that the page will be retained indefinitely. Pegasus «C¦ 12:16, 23 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
