"The Unforgiven II" is a song performed by Metallica. It was written by James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, and Kirk Hammett, and appears in the album ReLoad, as a sequel to "The Unforgiven" (which appears on Metallica). The name may be a pun on the lyric "you're unforgiven too."

It has only been performed once, at the 1997 Billboard Music awards (The band played because they won Artist of the Year).

Lyrics

When asked the song's meaning by a fan, Hetfield replied, "Forgiving no one and ending up alone." [1] The lyrics also refer frequently to a "she", shown in this verse:

"...She loves me not, she loves me still,

But she'll never love again.

She lay beside me, but she'll be there when I'm gone.

Black heart scarring darker still, yes she'll be there when I'm gone

Yes, she'll be there when I'm gone,

Dead sure she'll be there..."
