Regarding the pictures of him having sex

Is it something to mad be mentioned in the article? I think so, after all the pictures were mentioned in the swedish media and has been widely discussed on various discussion forums and websites.

If possible someone should gather some quotes from him on the matter in question. And also explain in _short_ what the pictures are depicting.

I haven't hard of any pictures. --The monkeyhate 20:18, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

I've deleted everything that didn't have a source under the "Controversy" section. Especially the paragraph called "Public reaction" should have been called "What the guys at random gaming forum thought about it". KEK 00:55, 7 February 2007 (UTC)

I agree that the mention of the photos should be made. It still comes up often in interviews with Basshunter, and he publically acknowledges it. He does not shy away from the issue, and even boasts about how is not ashamed of it. Even if it is simply 'trivia', then it should be included -- as is similar information in many, many articles about other performers. I have a feeling some are trying to protect Basshunter's 'honour' or something, but, again, he is very public about what he did, and about his recent interest and foray into making porn. I can't see the logic of not including this information, which people would understandbly want to know more about if they do here it mentioned in the media or elsewhere. Wikipedia is a logical place for them to come to to find out more. Veggiehead (talk) 14:31, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

If you feel it absolutely necessary, include a short section, but nothing elaborate. As far as any other trivial factoids, please see WP:TRIVIA. This is already really just fancruft, but I can tell it's going to hold for now. This isn't an issue of verfiability, or honour; it's simply notability. --Jacob Talk 20:50, 28 June 2008 (UTC)

"Vogue claim"

I removed a text from this wiki which claimed to be using "Swedish edition of Vogue-magazine as source." There is no "Swedish edition" of Vogue (see Vogue (magazine)). Other information also supported removal.

I am wondering if the remix by mmradio actually exists. I couldn't find it anywhere. Could this be a trick to generate extra traffic for mmradio's website? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.167.240.159 (talkcontribs)

Removed note of other songs

I removed:

A Danish remix has been made by the Danish Internet radio ''MMradio.org''. The remix is a parody, based on the fact that a lot of people think the song is about a boat, instead of a bot. Hence, the parody is about a boat, which further heightens the misunderstanding. The producers who made it never told what they would like to call it and thus received a name identifying Anna as a boat by a listener upon its first airing. A Dutch duo (Gebroeders Ko) also covered it, and their song is also called "Boten Anna" and is about a boat called Anna. In the video there are about 6 sexy ladies dancing on the boat, while listening to "Boten Anna".

As many more parodies and remixes were made. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vincentt (talkcontribs)

Btw. the statement "The producers who made it never told what they would like to call it and thus received a name identifying Anna as a boat by a listener upon its first airing." is wrong. At megamixers.com (MMradio is MegaMixers radio...) it is listed as " Rundfarten (CFFS Matros Mix)" PoiZaN 10:42, 11 September 2006 (UTC)

How is the table supposed to be read?

  1. "Boten Anna" [Radiomix] 3:29
  2. "Boten Anna" [Clubmix] 5:26
Chart (2006) Peak
Dutch Top 40 1 (1*)
Finland Top 20 9 (1)
Norwegian Top 20 3 (2)
Swedish Top 60 1 (1)

A few unclear things about the table:

I clarified the table. The * probably means that it currently is at the peak position, i.e. subject to change. Han-Kwang 10:12, 26 August 2006 (UTC)

True or not?

Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar DotA

This song is about BassHunter and his friends, using the voice communication application Ventrilo while they are playing DotA, a custom map for Warcraft 3. It's a eurodance song, very similar to Daddy DJ's song Daddy DJ or Scatman.

This was added at the bottom of the article.. Considering there is really no mention to DotA in the song, does this have any basis in fact? If somone else agrees, please delete it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.196.176.249 (talkcontribs)

Ehh, the song has DotA in the name. Doesn't really get more obvious than that. Also, the extended version has sounds from the game. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.231.243.116 (talkcontribs)

Yeah its true, watch the video clip. The lyric is 'Vi sitter har i venten och spelar lite dota' which translated means something like 'we play dota and talk/sit on vent'. The videoclip features a few pieces of warcraft iii gameplay which appears to be dota. - 134.7.77.147 08:20, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

According to this subtitled video < http://basshunter.m0o.eu/dota/index_en.php > "Vi sitter har i venten och spelar lite dota" translates to "We're sitting here in Ventrilo playing some DotA." Xchbla423 17:37, 12 September 2006 (UTC)

Actually, I think that Vi sitter har i venten och spelar lite DotA means something closer to "We're sitting here Ventin', just playing some DotA." "Ventin'" is a slang term used refering to speaking on Ventrilo. Primal 19:51, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

"Venten" means "the Vent", or a Ventrilo channel. The song and its lyrics are entirely about Ventrilo and/or DotA, as evidenced by the soundclips that are in it. I don't know about eurodance, but it's pretty obvious that it takes a lot of things from Daddy DJ. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.191.22.133 (talk) 16:38, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

IKEA

The IKEA website features a bot called Anna. Is this a coincidence? ABoerma 03:09, 3 September 2006 (UTC)

I doubt it. Anna is an extremely common girl's name in Sweden, good for about 8% of the Swedish women. Han-Kwang 22:02, 3 September 2006 (UTC)
Anna is the second most common first name among women in Sweden. But I must say it's a funny coincidence! Does other countries IKEA pages also have the Anna bot? abelson 11:54, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Cool, they do! Check out the American IKEA bot Anna abelson 11:57, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes, it's a coincidence. As Abelson already mentioned, it's a very common Swedish name and it makes sense naming a bot Anna if you're after the image of being a Swedish company like IKEA is. The bot itself is also not famous by any means, as far as I can tell. -Obli (Talk)? 13:37, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

Missing Albums

What's the deal with the other albums on basshunter.se like Welcome To Rainbow and The True Sound? Why aren't they included in our discography? As well, my friend has some songs ( such as Counterstrike the .mp3 and another one about swords or something) that are tagged as being writen by Basshunter, but I can't find them on his website or here. Primal 22:06, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

The True Sound is on his first album The Bassmachine. As far as I can tell, the other songs such as Counterstrike the .mp3, were released individually on his website before he was signed. Some of these songs have been compiled into a digital-only album entitled The Old Shit, which can be purchased through his website along with his previously free album The Bassmachine. There have been no announced plans for a physical release of these albums. DarkProdigy 18:13, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Well then why don't we include songs from The Old Shit in our discography? Can I add them? Primal 19:46, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

DJ or not?

In the article and other Basshunter-related articles it is mentioned that Basshunter is a DJ. At his homepage I can't find any information about this, it would seem that he is just a songwriter and a singer. Mstuomel 14:40, 25 September 2007 (UTC)

Since "DJ" means disc jockey and being a disc jockey means spinning actual disc, I would say no. He is a producer and a singer.Sambo 19:42, 12 October 2007 (UTC)

Tourette

Does anyone else think that the Tourette syndrome statement is out of place? I don't think it should be in the lead. Maybe it should be moved to the biography section. Also, is http://expressen.se/index.jsp?a=607653 the same source for this claim? Anthonzi (talk) 08:34, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Sexuality

Is he gay? I think I read on some internet new site postings about a discussion about his sexuality, stating sources that witnessed him at numerous gay venues and nightclubs around Europe. I have lost the news site thought. Does anyone else have citations for this? --62.56.72.43 (talk) 17:06, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

I'm fairly certain when you are in the electro music scene, it's nearly impossible to avoid gay clubs and bars, and most open-minded folks have found themselves in a gay establishment for whatever reason. I think if he hasn't released a public statement, it becomes 1) difficult to properly source, and 2) obviously isn't relevant to a profile as a musician. --Jacob Talk 21:22, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
More to the point, there are photos of him having sex with a woman available online. See [2] for an interview where he's asked about them and [3] for the pictures themselves. He's most definitely not gay. 81.97.206.87 (talk) 01:34, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

One of the biggest internet success stories - ever!

Basshunter is a Swedish bedroom DJ/producer, a cyber geek who wrote a song about an experience with meeting a girl on the internet. The girl was called Anna, and the song 'Boten Ana'.

Basshunter sent it to his friends on the web, who forwarded to their friends, and so on until it ended up in the hands of a local radio DJ who played it out on air. After its first airing the station was inundated with phone calls to play it again and they added it to their playlist.

The track then went crazy, the whole of Sweden got caught up in the story about his love for a girl on the internet, and when it was released in Scandinavia it became the fastest selling debut single since Abba, and Basshunter their biggest selling debut artist ever!

Through word of mouse, the track spread and it became number 1 in Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg - the first ever Swedish language hit in these countries. Germany were next, the song went top 10, something only Cascada & Eric Prydz have managed from the dance world, the track then hung about in the top end of the charts for 6 months..

..Fast-forward to the summer of 2007 and an English vocal version 'Now you're Gone' has become the most requested record in summer holiday resorts around Europe, due to it being the lead track on a mix cd by DJ Alex. As people return from their holiday's in Magaluff and surrounding islands desperate to get their hands on a copy it's clear that the Basshunter phenomenon is about to hit the UK!

Name

Is it Bass Hunter as in the fish "bass", or as in bass guitar? Is this worth mentioning? --...Wikiwøw. 22:23, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

I think it should be obvious that it is "bass" as in the sound term for low tones and pitches. "Bass" as in the fish is also pronounced differently. The fact that he is a musician should suffice to explain the name. --Jacob Talk 23:27, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

Anti-feelings

A lot of people can't seem to stand Basshunter. Everything from the program he uses, the tunes he picks, and the new lyrics for his songs. There is a lot more hateful sentiment for him than I have ever seen for any artist of a similar popularity and style. Could someone put something in about this? It's simply amazing how much there is. I have yet to hear of a Swedish person who likes him now, I know that's an exaggeration, but not by much. I even heard that he was booed off a stage in Sweden, however, I have no proof of this myself, though I do intend to look. 24.34.98.16 (talk) 22:57, 6 September 2008 (UTC)Stephen B.

Um, first of all, this is NOT a forum. This a a rumour that you can post on some blogs that I don't know of, and it is for sure that no one will indicate this on the article page (this is a kind of personal feeling).
