married

is he really married? no where else says so either way and his listed spouse doesn't come up anywhere on google except for this page. there's nothing in the article itself about his supposed wife or marriage. --24.181.229.174 15:35, 16 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm certain I would've heard about it by now, what with Drew everywhere plugging Power and Price. I'm going to remove it from the article. --Evildevil 05:34, 28 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A June 2005 interview in Sports Illustrated (at http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writers/richard_deitsch/06/14/drew.carey/1.html) gives Drew's birthday as May 28, 1958, not the 23rd.

Parma has no suburbs...Parma IS a suburb of Cleveland. Just thought I would clear that up.

Succession box

Removed the WLiiA? succession box -- the show only had two hosts, and really, Drew didn't "succeed" Clive Anderson. Amnewsboy 10:31, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

USO Involvement

I saw a special on HBO about a USO tour of comedians led by Drew in Iraq. It was pretty good, but I don't remember what it was. 67.187.48.82 18:00, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Obesse

Drew Carey is not obese. He might be overweight, but I wouldn't consider him obese because he lost a lot of weight after he has surgery. Mr. C.C. 21:48, 25 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I find Drew Carey to be obese, and you spelled it wrong.

Obesity is a medical condition, not an opinion. 68.42.17.202 05:17, 10 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Obesity is a disease in which excess body fat has accumulated to such an extent that health may be negatively affected. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.63.133.208 (talk) 21:08, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism

Removed some vandalism from Career section. Please take note if any further vandalism occurs, with particular emphasis on Mr. Carey's weight.Doyel 23:49, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

MySpace

Is that MySpace page legit? Deshem 09:33, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it is, I saw some interview several months back of him talking about it and it has several pictures of him with his new sports show, so I am pretty sure it is his page. --Nehrams2020 16:19, 30 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

GA Result

There are 7 things that must pass before an article reaches GA status. I have reviewed it and the result is as follows:

  1. Well-written: Pass
  2. Factually accurate: Pass
  3. Broad: Pass
  4. Neutrally written: Pass
  5. Stable: Pass
  6. Well-referenced: Pass
  7. Images: Pass

Well done, the GA has passed successfully. Bob talk 11:52, 9 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Marines

I'm having some trouble with the timeline. The article states that he joined the Marines in 1980 and served six years. It then states that he relocated to Las Vegas in 1982. Well, unless the Marines stationed him in Vegas (I'm no Marine, but I don't think there are any bases in Vegas except of Nellis AFB) or he went AWOL, there is no way that is correct. Further in the article, it states that he was in the Marine Reserves, and this might explain an ability to relocate to Las Vegas. Can someone please clarify the exact terms and circumstances of his military service? 13:05, 19 January 2007

I modified it. --Nehrams2020 21:41, 19 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There are Marine detachments all over the place; my MOS school was on an army base. It wouldn't surprise me at all if his unit was at Nellis. Besides, there are Marines in my unit who drive 5 hours to get to drill (I have to drive them, occasionally :-)). A friend of mine from MOS school actually has to fly out to Battle Creek, MI from Oceanside once a month, at the moment. Anyway, I'm curious what rank he got out with. I'd imagine corporal. --Cuervo, not logged in 23:49, 12 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That's correct, there are Marines all over the place in detachments.128.59.104.22 05:30, 1 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Was Drew in Plattoon 1054, San Diego MCRD, graduate in Sept. 5, 1980? He kind of recollect that he might have been my squad leader but cannot verify by my records or photos. Not that it matters but would settle a question I have had in my head since his rise to public view...I had other survival issues at the time than to focus on names of those around me getting marched, yelled, and exersized about back in those days. His Insignia in the picture is PFC not CPL

Funny funny man

Drew Carey is a very funny man, but his politics are terrible. What do you think? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Nomorepieforyou (talkcontribs) 17:39, 15 May 2007 (UTC). This is wikipedia, our opinions about Drew Carey’s politics are irrelevant.[reply]

Comedy Central Roast

He was roasted on Comedy Central, isn't that an honor? I think roastees are inducted into some hall of fame.

Price Is Right

I cannot find where it is a lie that he's not going to be the next host. I would like to see the source for that comment. -68.174.87.129 01:44, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That was vandalism. -TPIRFanSteve 04:32, 29 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
When is Carey going to start as the host? I'll probably tape a couple of episodes to see him in action. --The Radio Star 20:02, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It hasn't been decided yet. -TPIRFanSteve 20:22, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
When is he going to step down as host of TPIR? God I miss Bob. Come out of retirement Bob!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.235.221.33 (talk) 01:18, 27 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eye surgery - when?

The article says he had laser eye surgery and he only wore glasses onscreen for people to recognize him. It implies it has been this way for his whole career. It seems like LASIK and such didn't hit big until after he was famous. Also, fans wouldn't need the glasses to recognize him unless he'd already been wearing them for real. (Or was it his stand-up fans he wanted to recognize him?) Does anyone know when he had that surgery? --Howdybob 03:49, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Head Image

I don't really like the main image for this article. Although I know that Wikipedia isn't censored for children, I still don't think that it is really appropriate for an encyclopedia, as he is putting on a stupid face and flipping off the camera. I don't think it really works for a descriptive image. Karrmann (talk) 21:35, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Although it's definitely not my favorite image of him either, it is the most recent one we have of him (December 2007). It could be replaced with another image if we can get permission from somebody that may have a better/more current image of him. I'm always searching for new images of him on Flickr and other sites, but haven't received permission for a replacement yet. If anyone doesn't like the image, then please help continue to find other ones. --Nehrams2020 (talk) 21:54, 16 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Picture

I figured out how to get rid of that picture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.117.131.34 (talk) 04:12, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Can anyone get a better picture? I would think with him becoming pretty high profile now with The Price is Right job that this isn't the best picture to have of a guy who host's a daytime family game show.74.129.237.142 (talk) 16:04, 31 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps we could use a better picture. Maybe one less likely to cause immediate stereotypes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.138.83.10 (talk) 03:15, 25 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not going to edit the article because I wouldn't know what I'm doing so I'll leave it up to you. Is there a better picture you can find then Drew giving everyone the bird? Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.119.32.80 (talk) 02:14, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've got to agree, that picture is funny but entirely inappropriate for an article's lead picture. I mean, do we put a picture of Bush flipping the bird on his page? The Clawed One (talk) 04:24, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The first line is a bit harsh for an encyclopedia 203.3.197.249 (talk) 02:50, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

More picture problems

There is obviously a user vandalizing this article, particularly in regards to the picture. One user in particular keeps re-adding a picture of Carey flipping the bird to this article. I will try to get the other picture of Carey deleted from Wikipedia so that the user cannot continue vandalizing this article when a good picture already exists. However, it looks like this might be a problem, as it is a picture used as an example in The Finger --Mr. Brown (talk) 05:28, 22 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
