Wii Instrument Compatability

The GH3 guitar will work with RB2. A HMX rep said it on the RB forums. The WT instruments will probably work, but this is what we know so far. --24.63.18.184 (talk) 00:48, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Anti-Social

Is it REALLY in? It's already in Guitar Hero 3 as downloadable content. --66.130.30.245 (talk) 13:12, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The source is there. You'll note that WT also includes songs that have already been feature in GH: On Tour. -- TRTX T / C 13:58, 11 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mocap??

Should I put information about Ted Nugent & Ozzy doing mocap?? Estemshorn (talk) 00:17, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

ADDED SATCH BOOGIE

There's no real reason that I can see as to why it isn't in the setlist, so I added it. It's been confirmed to be in the game, so therefor should be in the list. Thank you. --ZacLOL (talk) 01:08, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Get me a reliable source that says satch boogie is confirmed, and then it can be added. You don't just add songs without sources. Nothing that i've seen has proved Satch Boogie to be a track in the game yet. 71.149.162.76 (talk) 01:19, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Satch Boogie" has been reported by at least two sites that had multiple representatives invited to Neversoft to preview the game yesterday, and they've shown screenshots of the score screen with the song title on it. See a few entries above on this talk page.Dmwiki (talk) 01:47, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Just report the websites, and it will probably be added. --Sw2493 (talk) 01:56, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Here is the screenshot - http://media.coveritlive.com/media/image/200809/JRCPRcMHivsatch_boogie.jpg. That's from Scorehero's liveblog of the private preview at Neversoft. I can't dig up the link to the archived text of their liveblog, but a moderator at the GH Community forums was also at the event, and reported Satch Boogie, as well as Stranglehold in their liveblog at http://community.guitarhero.com/forums/55708/forum_topics/119869#forumposts-1534392. (And if this does get added, doublecheck the song count, think we might be off by one).Dmwiki (talk) 02:33, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Hell yes that is a source! That was really interesting to read. I am a new user, so I can't post up the song, but can someone else with that ability do that? --Sw2493 (talk) 02:54, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Satch Boogie"

I see "Satch Boogie" was deleted again, because a "'random screenshot' on a forum is not a reliable source." I understand being wary of using forum gossip, but I think this should be considered much more solid than idle chatter. The screenshot is not something "random" that just popped up on a forum without any explanation or context. It comes from Scorehero's liveblog (http://www.scorehero.com/liveblog, click replay and scroll to the very end) of an event at Neversoft where prominent members of Scorehero and a few other sites were given the chance to preview the game and release some information with Neversoft's permission. The inclusion of "Satch Boogie" is corroborated by another liveblog from someone at the event (http://community.guitarhero.com/forums/55708/forum_topics/119869#forumposts-1534392, about four or five posts from the bottom). This doesn't seem any less reliable (and, to me, even more solid considering the in-game screenshot) than the sourcing for "Bullet with Butterfly Wings", which only comes from that early Stuff article and was conspicuously not mentioned in the press release announcing "Today" and the Pumpkins DLC. I won't stick it back in, but can we reconsider? Dmwiki (talk) 15:40, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This is an example of one of the bigger problems that faces this article. Currently the setlist is a group of approx. 75 songs glued together from a series of reports, press releases and rumors. At this point, I would like to suggest a split on the setlist. Two tables. One with songs we got OFFICIALLY from Activision. Via press release or direct reports from official Activision events. The second table would be with songs from other sources, which have yet to be confirmed by Activision. A simliar split was performed on the "Upcoming Songs" in Rock Band DLC, which resulted in FAR fewer headaches and far less conflict amoung editors. -- TRTX T / C 15:47, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Full Setlist revealed.

Actually this might all be moot. Gamespot UK says Activision has released the full 86: http://uk.gamespot.com/news/6197604.html?tag=latestheadlines;title;1. Reliable? Or wait a bit to see if more US sites pick it up? If this list is true, "Light My Fire," "In the End" and "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" were incorrect. Guess that Stuff article wasn't such a reliable source. Dmwiki (talk) 15:52, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Gamespot (uk or not) is reliable, so that technically is our list to work from. --MASEM 15:59, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Cool. I've got time on my hands so I'll jump on it I guess. Dmwiki (talk) 16:18, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

← Some suggestions as you're editing this.

  • A similar situation occured with Rock Band 2. Songs were reported to be in the game, and later were not in the official setlist confirmed by HMX. What we did there was include previously reported songs in the original game article. See RB2 for examples.
  • Now that we have an official setlist, it's time to split off List of songs in Guitar Hero: World Tour. When you do this, instead of putting a reference by every song title, only include those song titles which are in this list, and have one reference at the beginning (see List of songs in Rock Band 2 for an example of this). This will produce far less clutter and reduce the number of references (we now have one SOLID reference to cite vs. a number of scattered references).

This should help trim some of the bulk off this article and help make the creation of the song list article that much easier on you. -- TRTX T / C 16:53, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

← OK, new article is created. Let's salvage the two or three references from the setlist that are used elsewhere in the article (cbc jimi, ign leipzig and something ozzy) and take that content out of this article. Dmwiki (talk) 17:14, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Should we also add the DLC songs to the new article? Demoman87 (talk) 17:33, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Consider it done. Dmwiki (talk) 17:48, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Be happy.

The real-life characters for GH: World have been announced.

GUITAR: Zakk Wylde and Ted Nugent

VOCAL: Ozzy Osbourne and Sting

DRUMS: Travis Barker —Preceding unsigned comment added by Silver The Slammer (talkcontribs) 22:02, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What happened to Hendrix? I thought he was in it? :( --ZacLOL (talk) 22:59, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Given that even screenshots have shown Hendrix, as well as having Billy Corgan in the game, and the user above has provided no source, I doubt this is the complete list, or that these may be the only playable characters. --MASEM 23:03, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Bah, you're right. Why would I listen to a dude with no sources? Also, can you provide a screenshot with Hendrix? Not for the article, I just want to see it haha --ZacLOL (talk) 23:39, 13 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
There's an image of Travis in the game here- http://community.guitarhero.com/accounts/323529/blogs/81736. There doesn't seem to be any screens with Jimi around yet, still seems weird there's only one drummer if there's two of everything else though.59.101.99.197 (talk) 11:09, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
yeah, ozzy and ted are definetely in the game. guitarherogames has videos with ozzy & ted doing mocap. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Estemshorn (talkcontribs) 14:55, 14 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

IP Vandalism but Semi-protected?

What's with the recent IP vandalism? The page still has the semi-protected icon, but I can still edit the page when I'm not logged in. Dmwiki (talk) 02:59, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Nevermind, it expired but the icon wasn't removed. Have requested an extension. Dmwiki (talk) 04:42, 15 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Mic in Music Studio

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3kYTa4EgtU Brian Bright says "One guy can grab the mic," at about 1:01 in the video. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.24.54.185 (talk) 22:09, 18 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

They say that the Mic will OFFICIALLY not be in teh studio. But Brian Bright needs to be careful with his wording. It wasn'y very noticable. Maybe he's hinting at something...what does someone else think? --24.63.18.184 (talk) 02:07, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I've seen an in-depth video on the Music Studio that clearly showed the Mic as an optional recording instrument. I'm guessing the actual voice is not recorded and it's converted into a melody track or something similar. SpinachPuffs (talk) 19:14, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
http://www.gamertagradio.com/vbportal/forums/showthread.php?p=55460 Mic is shown around the 1 min mark. Sadly he doesn't actually show the mic in action, but more or less everything else in the Studio is shown. It's the 360 version btw. SpinachPuffs (talk) 19:26, 19 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Within the last couple of days I read that vocal tracks will be available for custom songs, but that they will be tracked to a keyboard (or whatever you choose, I suppose) part that can be sung along to during gameplay. I'm not sure where I read this exactly, but I believe it was an IGN article. Dfsghjkgfhdg (talk) 04:35, 20 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

minor fix

in the game play section it says that the game evaluates you from 1 to 5 stars. while I cannot be 100% certain that it will remain true in this version in GH3 the worst score you could get was a 3. when you enter the no fail cheat even if you play no notes you get a 3 star rating. I would fix this myself, however my account is new and it will not let me. —Preceding unsigned comment added by MasterSilve (talkcontribs) 10:27, 22 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Free Guitar with Pre-Order

It has been announced that people in the United Kingdom who pre-order Guitar Hero World Tour's ‘super bundle’, which retails for around £150 and comes with a guitar controller, a microphone and drums, Activision will give away a second guitar controller completely free.

“This programme signals our enormous commitment to Guitar Hero World Tour,” Activision’s marketing director for the UK and Ireland David Tyler told MCV.

Travis Barker

The article says that Travis Barker has been seen doing mo-cap but during the E3 conference Travis said he will be a character in the game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Accent Aigu (talkcontribs) 22:19, 28 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

In this video on youtube, you can clearly see travis barker as the drummer, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kGbN3gc7t4

Gamestop Preorders

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7b__FLVkbw

According to that video, put out by Gamestop, anybody who preorders World Tour from a Gamestop store will automatically have all songs unlocked. This, of course, can only mean that they are either packing a separate disc (highly unlikely and would likely upset many players) or they are simply giving out a cheat to unlock all songs. Either way, it's worth looking into a little more if possible and possibly adding I suppose. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dfsghjkgfhdg (talkcontribs) 02:44, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's really all that significant. Read the text in the video. It just says you get the unlock all songs cheat... which anyone can get on scorehero.com within days after the game's release. KhalfaniKhaldun 02:49, 1 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Right you are; I see the text now. I imagined as much. Dfsghjkgfhdg (talk) 04:14, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Game SetList

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/909/909727p1.html The entire setlist has been revealed, should it be added to the article? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.89.183.90 (talk) 18:56, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

See List of songs in Guitar Hero World Tour. --MASEM 20:02, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Confirm or delete

"Vicarious Visions has confirmed that controllers developed for the Wii version of Rock Band will not be compatible with the Wii version of World Tour." That needs to be confirmed or deleted, especially with the release so soon is a time we do not need disinformation. 114.75.10.27 (talk) 15:16, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It is probably because the Guitar Hero World Tour drums require the Wii Remote to go into it and the Rock Band drums connect via USB port —Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.45.23.105 (talk) 23:35, 12 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pause timer

http://youtube.com/watch?v=Kn4LTICsFdg At :50, their controllers are disconnected for some reason, pausing the game. After, it shows them what's coming and gives them 4 seconds, should this be added? --MasterOfTheXP (talk) 00:45, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Youtube isn't a reliable source.--Megaman en m (talk) 11:11, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
No, but it seems to be actual gameplay... this should at least be noted. 72.140.33.57 (talk) 19:09, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
But per Wikipedia policy we don't mention anything like this without a reliable source. KhalfaniKhaldun 19:42, 11 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Release Date

Release date is apparently november 7, as of october 20, see http://eu.vgreleases.com/xbox360/releasedate-148039.aspx 82.171.54.202 (talk) 21:24, 20 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The release date is actaully the 24th october same day as fable 2, this was published on the gamestation pre-order guide. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pineapplemonster (talkcontribs) 22:58, 13 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Retail and online stores like Gamestation don't give official information on unreleased games. If the release date was that close ahead, we would've have heard it from Activision long ago. Ericleb01 (talk) 01:46, 18 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wii Instruments Might Be Compatible With Rock Band 2

http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/55371 They said GUITAR HERO 3 instruments will work and since Guitar Hero World Tour guitars and Guitar Hero 3 guitars are cross compatible, I'm guessing it should work. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.24.54.185 (talk) 19:10, 21 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
