Trivia
- Wikifun This page deals mostly with a trivia/scavenger hunt type of competition. The winner of a round goes on to create new tasks for the next round and so on so forth.
- Mind Benders This page is now active again- really! Pre-round one will open soon, and round one will open after that. Calling ALL ARTISTS for the pre-round! Flcelloguy | A note? | Desk 00:03, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Keep an eye out for an upcoming Jeopardy style trivia contest!
- On IRC, there is already a bot (Sarti) that does this. Sarti is a bit flaky though, so I'm working on a bot to replace it. It will be a bit closer to quiz bowl style of play, with multiple clues per answer and a pyramidal question structure. Right now, the bot is command line only, so I need to add IRC functionality. →Raul654
- A novel front-end for Wikipedia has been invented at: http://blog.outer-court.com/wikitrivia/ where they pick a random article, blank out the subject and challenge you to guess the subject. It's actually quite well done. Perhaps WikiMedia can host something similar as an alternate revenue generator. Samw 00:40, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Games
- Wikipedia:Six degrees of Wikipedia This particular page is actually really fun. Based on the game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, users are able to find the common links between any two pages.
- Wikipedia:Wiki-Link Game Although difficult to win, the Wiki-Link Game guarantees a random walk that might be diverting.
- Wikipedia Roulette To play Wikipedia Roulette click the link, and if a page comes up that you have edited, you win. Extra points if you can either contribute something to, or correct something on, the page you land on.
- Wikipedia:Contests (article-writing and other kinds) are another fun thing to do, all of which encourage users to make contributions.
- Wikipedia:Hangman, started out in the sandbox, a good way to pass time with fellow Wikipedians.
- And now there's a WikiHangman tournament
- Once upon a time... - help write the world's greatest novel, Wikipedia-style!
- Wikipedia:Wikirace - A game for two or more players to see who can reach a certain page first.
- Wikipedia:Wiki Game - Multiplayer game, see who can "find their way" to a specific page in the least number of clicks.
- Chess, an attempt to have a peer-colloborative effort to play entertaining rounds of one of the most well-known intellectual board games ever.
- Chess championship, the chess elite of Wikipedia pit against each other to see who's the King of the Board!
- N Degrees of Separation Find the shortest path connecting two randomly chosen pages!
Humor
- Wikipediholic This page describes the pros/cons of Wikipediholism and also includes a test to see how "wikidicted" you really are.
- Bad jokes and other deleted nonsense This one is pretty much self descriptive.
- Unusual articles This page is for Wikipedians to list articles that seem a bit unusual. These articles are valuable contributions to the encyclopedia, but are somewhat odd, whimsical, or... well, something you wouldn't expect to find in the Encyclopædia Britannica. see Exploding whale for example or just go to the unusual article link.
- The sandbox used for edit tests can sometimes be quite amusing. You might browse through the page's history or check out Sandbox In-sand-ity to see what fun -- or outright mischief has happened to this page. If you remove something offensive from the sandbox, you might be awarded the "Atlas Award" -- named after Charles Atlas, the famed body-builder, who based his mail order sales business on his claim to have been a "98-pound weakling" who had had "sand kicked in (his) face" by bullies. The sandbox is not a litterbox.
- Religion and Wikipedia
- Really Reformed Church of Wikipedia — Excerpt: Jimbo loves me this I know, For the Wiki tells me so . . .
- Wikipedia Anti-rules is a compendium of... uh, advice.
- Humor category at Meta
- meta:Friends of gays should not be allowed to edit articles
- Wikipedia:Errors in the Encyclopædia Britannica that have been corrected in Wikipedia
Songs
While Meta:Hotel Wikipedia is the official theme song, there's no reason not to make up your own songs. Since it has been recognized that the Wikiholic in particular needs lots of ways to create their own culture or at least encounter their own despair, we probably needs lots more songs on the Wikipedia:song list. Don't worry you don't have to write music, just rip off a tune everyone knows and change the lyrics, marking it TTTO for "to the tune of" the victimized song.
These songs can be sung in public, but, that may only compound your problem. Just humming a few bars of the song can remind people of the Wikipedia-themed lyrics and create yet more in-jokes that will further isolate you from non-Wikipedian human contact. Which we encourage.
Useful and Fun
- Wikipedia:Untagged_Images. Yet another Wikipedia fixing project. You'll get to see lots of random pretty pictures.
