A very POV article

I have done some substantial editing on this article to re-arrange it by topic and by chronology. It is more encyclopedic and NPOV now. Previously it was a very encyclopedic article, it amounted to a character assasination of this individual and it was full of accuations and POV statements. I suggest those interested in continuing to add information first consult a similar entry that conforms to Wiki standards, See Mobutu for an example of how an encyclopedic article can be fair even when the editor may think that the individual is very distasteful. Killing of mountain gorillas

His rebels have apparently been killing endangered mountain gorillas; this should probably be mentioned.[1] 24.93.190.134 07:51, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is Nkunda a Banyamulenge?

Ethnicity is all-important in the Congo-Rwanda conflicts and the article implies but doesn't explicitly state that Nkunda is a Tutsi-related Banyamulenge. Rexparry sydney 03:24, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re the name 'Nkunda Batware' by which he is also called, I assume 'batware' here is the Tutsi word for 'chief' and does not mean something like 'of the Batwa' (the Twa people). I hope someone can elucidate. Rexparry sydney 01:14, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

First of all Nkunda, Ruberwa,Joseph so called Kabila are not Congoleses that's the very truth of the matter now coming with the version that there is an ethny called Banyamlenge in Congo it's historically false and it's an aberration, in congolese culture I mean Bantou's culture no ethny have been named from the name of the place they are living. people always get the name of their ethny from the language they speak such as baluba they speak tshiluba bakongo they speak kikongo, bangala they speak lingala and so and so not the name of their place of living for christ sick! but banyamulenge this name came from the mountain of mulenge where they were living after immigrating in Congo and they speak kinyarwanda which is rwandan dialect that why in Congo people call them banyarwanda not banyamulenge themself they know why they don't want to be called banyarwanda although they speak Kinyarwanda which is not a congolese dialect all of these are maffia against minerals riches of Congo and they re back by some hearthless multinationals companies that why this so called civilian war is no getting end with allmost six million people died and millions of women raped no! no! no! no! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.44.195.187 (talk) 10:38, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Role of American evangelists

The Washington Post report quoted in the article amounts to an accusation that American Christian evangelists have inflamed the situation by giving Nkunda a sense of righteousness in his actions. The mixture of religious cults at odds with the mainstream culture and allied to political grievances has often had dire consequences in Africa, as has been seen with the Lord's Resistance Army in Uganda and Alice Lenshina's sect in Zambia. If anyone knows of visits made by such evangelists to Nkunda, or can shed any light on the "Rebels for Christ" button which Nkunda wears (which presumably, being in English rather than French, came from Rebels for Christ ministries in the US), can they add it to the article (if referenced) or here otherwise. Thanks. Rexparry sydney 04:33, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Height

Anyone knows how tall he is??? Axxn 07:32, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Map Requested

There is a good map at the Washington Post article as of August 07 that shows an approximation of the areas Nkunda controls. The link is "For Tutsis of Eastern Congo, Protector, Exploiter or Both?" by Stephanie McCrummen, The Washington Post. Is there any chance that a map can be created that reflects this information without infringing copyright?(talk) 23:59, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blood Colton Interview

I've added some updates on an interview that Laurent Nkunda gave for the documentary "Blood Colton" in which talks about his badge "Rebels for Christ" and his association with U.S based Seventh-day Adventists and their message of the "Rebels for Christ" ideology.

What is he fighting for?

This article should say why he fights the government. What is his 'plan' or his ideology if he has one? Does he want independence otr just governorship of a provence or does he want some kind of ethnic cleansing? 213.214.57.217 (talk) 18:44, 28 October 2008 (UTC)Hicham Vanborm[reply]

There's an article/essay describing the motivations quite well (hint: preventing repetition/continuation of Rwandan Genocide). 87.194.198.122 (talk) 12:22, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

one sided, possibly partisan

The recent content about the current (October/November 2008) troubles leave much to be desired, and simply parrot one-sided reporting from the big media. For a balanced view (who the hell wants a balanced view these days?) read http://exiledonline.com/nkunda-is-nkool/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.22.149.67 (talk) 20:52, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnicity

Is his ethnicity known; is there perhaps a source for it? If so, please add it to the article. I suppose I am not the first opne trying to find this information here - in vain. Thanks. Tomeasy T C 22:05, 12 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ousted?

According to the BBC Nkunda has lost his leadership position. I'll let the news play out a bit before working on the article. Hiberniantears (talk) 18:43, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

apparently still disputed. For example [2] suggests that the UN still think he is worth meeting with.Geni 22:11, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
