The ninth season begins with Grissom discovering Warrick shot in his car after the Undersheriff reports witnessing the shooting and points the team to a rogue cop and as Warrick dies in Grissom's arms. The entire team grieves for their fallen friend while unknown to them the killer, the Undersheriff, plans to head to Mexico. Also an old friend, Sara, returns when she hears the news. | |||||

It's Halloween and Nick and Riley witness a man dressed as a cop rob a convenience store and then must help the team investigate the death of the daughter of a major drug lord which leads them to a seedy club where Catherine finds Lindsey on the dance floor. A body is found out in the desert and the guy's girlfriend is missing. After discovering needle marks on the victim's body Grissom turns to Lady Heather for help when he realizes that the needle marks are a form of S&M. She points the team towards a place designed for poetry and performing arts, but it has a back room perfect for S&M fantasies. The CSI team investigates a shooting at a Koreatown neighborhood party, in which the mother and uncle of a small boy, Park Bang, are murdered. Grissom stakes a personal investment in the case when it is discovered that Park Bang witnessed the shooting and he goes missing. Grissom suspects the killer tracked Park down and is trying to keep him from talking, the case becomes more complicated when it's revealed Park has HIV and his mother put him on an unauthorized medical trial. | |||||

The team arrives at the scene of a triple homicide in a supposedly quiet neighborhood where a little girl witnessed her entire family getting killed. In the first part of the two part season finale, a member of the drug task force is murdered in an explosion which leads the team to a deadly street gang. Sergeant Curtis helps the team to solve the murder and to take down the gang. Also the lab techs must take polygraph tests because it is suspected that there is a mole inside the lab. | |||||

In the conclusion of the two part season finale, the team stands by as Riley and Hodges are held hostage by the gang in the drug house. Also Greg does something that could end his career as a CSI. | |||||
