Edits to KIRO-FM and KVI-AM?
Eric Kirchner has not hosted KIRO's weekend programs for many months and the Commentators moved to KOMO many more months ago. I'm curious why you undid my edits to place these since-departed personalities back on those pages? (97.113.196.94 (talk) 07:10, 21 February 2009 (UTC))

To Whom It May Concern :
Hello,
I am very sorry to this result. However, I have just made an account on Wikipedia-- and are not that familiar with these sort of guidelines (Yes, I have read the beginners section) I am shocked by your warnings towards me; even though I have presented thus, evidence of the truth.
Such as? I would like you and me to agree upon this conflict between Greater and Metro Vancouver Personally , I would go with both because the district still uses Greater Vancouver in the water and plumage systems.
Hopefully you can agree upon with me ;
I am just fixing up some sentence flaws, I am unclear of how this is called Vandalism [Yes again, I have read through the guidelines, however to this myself I am unclear]
PS.
The Picture about Arbutus Ridge is looking upon Downtown Vancouver ;
to be more specific.
Thank you in regards; Please talk to me if you have any concerns or questions.
Thank you the most
sincerely. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iiarecooll (talk • contribs) 03:19, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Hello again Emarsee,
Yes - Although on The Weather Network uses Greater Vancouver.
Secondly, Personally I think It doesn't really matter if the media uses Metro Vancouver. It is not exactly 100% official that Greater Vancouver is destroyed or not used anymore, and that Metro Vancouver is replaced entirely. It is only still under construction. It focuses more on the people, a whole lot of the population still don't know about the name change and still name Greater Vancouver. One of my friends from England, thought it was a train system running in Vancouver.
Anyway; I do not want to argue about the funny things on this Christmas Holiday ; all on all peace?
And yes you are right the mountains are focused on West** Vancouver. Not Vancouver West :)
However there is a flaw in the structure I wanted to edit out earlier View of ___what___ from Arbutus Ridge...etc
Thanks and Regards
Peace
Lets just dont talk about this anymore Its getting on me :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iiarecooll (talk • contribs) 04:56, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:CFJC-TV.PNG)
Thanks for uploading File:CFJC-TV.PNG. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. As to your talk regards Metro Vancouver and against TransLink; the ORIGINAL NAME WAS NOT South Coast British Columbia Transportation Authority. It was the Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority, and before that - was BCTransit, BC'S Transit System.
It is TransLink because it would be a "a nickname" for GVTA / SCBCTA as of JAN/1/08.
As of Metro Vancouver, it is not the same. People still use Metro Vancouver only for media and district as of Official Name, HOWEVER; the population does not use the name Metro Vancouver in many cases;
a. it's hard to understand for tourists from countries b. it does not make sense in directories (EG YellowPages - they use Vancouver and areas surrounding it)
The concept I am trying to get here Emarsee is that Greater Vancouver is still in use, and thus -
It is not an authority that you may choose to take down the old name, Greater Vancouver
Towards your talk about the RADIO STATION THAT USES METRO VANCOUVER:
As you said, Mr 'Emarsee' - the media does not Matter, as suppose you said awhile ago.
Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iiarecooll (talk • contribs) 06:01, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Yes, what you said is true;
HOWEVER-
It may matter due to the population if the district calls Vancouver ; Supercali..etc People will not have interest in the name; which will make the district change the name
And as well
Toronto does not use the name Metro Toronto ;
it uses GTA [Greater Toronto Area] if you may not have already known.
Metro Toronto is only Applied as in professionally - it is not a thing used; and it is not a legal name.
Although people say that Metro Vancouver does not make sense;
even when the district uses it;
It might be helpful posting up the old name / and the new name
eg? Preceding Name : Greater Vancouver
New Official Name as of 2008: Metro Vancouver
Helping me, helping others; and helping everybody. thanks as people are confused ; it'll be helpful. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Iiarecooll (talk • contribs) 06:27, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
As Well,
the term Lower Mainland is used against the people; even though its not official to the district and not legally correct, and the district has control but, -- everyone uses it. which led to even the district itself.
Now, People does matter.
However I do want to end this very childish argument -
Thanks and hope to get this solved.
Iiarecooll (talk) 06:32, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Also,
Lower Mainland is applied as Metro Vancouver
So Lower Mainland still takes in effect.
Greater Vancouver, and its surroundings, although Greater Vancouver still makes more sense -- Metro Vancouver is more of a legal name
Even the Directories uses Greater Vancouver. Everyone. except for the Media and District itself.
The Main concept ; Greater Vancouver and Metro Vancouver should still be used in the Metro Vancouver page, and as well to include both histories as of dates.
eg. TransLink's new official name and old "Greater Vancouver Transportation Authority"
Thanks Iiarecooll (talk) 06:35, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
Pardon, user Emarsee
Could we please end this childish argumentation, as you please.
I understand the fact; and I know what I've done wrong as a "beginner" on Wikipedia. I am sorry,
and as you please STOP this argumentation about Metro Vancouver

The "images cannot be added purely for decorative purposes" rationale applies only to images that are licensed under fair use. It's irrelevant if the image is licensed under GFDL; images uploaded to Wikipedia under GFDL, CC or public domain licensing can always be in the article whether they're purely "decorative" or not. Hey Emarsee, I'm interested in your comment where you say "Only COL should be in category". Is that a Wiki rule (I searched but couldn't find anything), or an assumption? CRTC
Looks like they've finally switched everything over to the new url format, so for the moment almost all of our weblinks to CRTC decisions are dead (except for a few that I manually updated today.) I've put in a request with WP:AWB to see if we can automate the changeover, since for the most part it's actually a fairly simple middle-of-the-url text substitution. I'll keep you updated on the response. Bearcat (talk) 04:18, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Granville Island Water Taxi?
Can you pls help me understand why you deleted my addition to the Transportation in Vancouver page? This is a private company (I have no business interest) offering a new transportation option for people who might wish to visit Bowen Island. I use it all the time, as do lots of others who live out here. Why is this different than the Aquabus listed on the page, or the private charter service that runs scenic tours of the park?
In November 2008, the private company Granville Island Water Taxi introduced daily scheduled foot-passenger service between Granville Island and Snug Cove, Bowen Island. The 12-passenger vessel Eagle XXX takes approximately 25 minutes to make the crossing, and runs as many as 16 trips per day in either direction. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Jamesglave (talk • contribs) 17:20, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi there, sorry I wasn't sure what frequency to put in for CHFR-FM, I believe they now operate at 96.5 FM, instead of 91.5 FM so I left it blank because I wasn't quite sure. I checked the recent CRTC decision on CHFR Hornby Island and its at 96.5 FM as of 2007, while Recnet says it operates at 91.5 FM which may be outdated. Once again, i'm sorry for removing the frequency from the Northern Vancouver Island template. The next time i'll leave it until I make the official change(s). Criticism section of Gateway Program article
The wikipedia guidelines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Criticism_sections) state that it is preferable to move statements from the general criticism section to the relevant section. The guidelines state : "While sometimes appropriate, this structure is not optimal, as relegating all criticisms to one section usually results in an unbalanced presentation. When present, such sections should be considered a temporary solution until the article is restructured to integrate criticism into each relevant section. It may then be desirable to have a "General criticisms" section near the end of the article, for those points which did not neatly fit anywhere else."
The edits I made clearly are meant to follow the Wikipedia guidelines. Why are you changing them? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 154.20.83.221 (talk) 20:34, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Royal Roads University Wikipedia Entry
Hi Emarsee,
We agree that Wikipedia entries should not be promotional. Could we say that Royal Roads University targets students who are working professionals, instead of saying that it's Canada's public university for working professionals? Also, we would link this statement to the current Royal Roads website instead of what is currently linked: Royal Roads Military College which has not existed for 14 years.

Removal of excessive fair use
Hi, it's been a little while; are you planning on discussing anything related to this? It's poor tact (and a bit disingenuous) to rollback all of someone's edits before even trying to talk with them about the problem you have, and then say you don't want to edit war over it. I don't see any valid reason for your reverts, and will reinstate my original edits if I don't here from you. Dominic·t 02:15, 26 February 2009 (UTC)

Hello,
You have accused me of vandalism without citing which edit I made that fell in this category. I assure you, I would not vandalize a page and find this accusation unnecessary. If I made an error in an edit, I think it would have been more constructive for you to simply correct me.

Excuse me, but you don't have to be so rude. I can't find a youtube link but if you have a day off or something, watch during the times Family Jr. or as you like to call it "Playhouse Disney" comes on, and you'll see during the time before another show starts, that the "Family Jr." logo will appear. What happens in this logo sequence is a red ball, a blue square, and a yellow triangle spin top all go around the room splashing their colours everywhere like paint, then they come together, then the "Family Jr." logo appears. I have only happened to notice that it is now called Family Jr. because I have been babysitting recently, since I am not in school for the time being(I am finished school). Abbotsford skyline
Actually, there aren't many towers at all in Abbotsford, and only one in the "old downtown" at Essendene/South Fraser Way and McCallum - and that's the one for sure. There are some others at the other end of South Fraser Way, and some smaller towers. But if downtown Abbotsford has a skyline, well, that is it. Not that your amended caption is wrong. More "true" of the Skyline as such would be a view along the strip mall on South Fraser Way, or overlooking the Essendene area, with Mount Baker looming in the background; that is really Abbotsford's skyline....Skookum1 (talk) 15:20, 2 March 2009 (UTC)

Categories
{{helpme}}I'm wondering how you get italics to appear in categories like here Category:Channel_9_TV_stations_in_Canada. Is it also possible to change the name that appears in the categories as well. Thanks. єmarsee • Speak up! 06:32, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
- When you wikilink to a category, you should place a colon in front of it (I just edited your request to fix it) so it doesn't add the current page to the category. To change how an article is sorted in categories I think you use the template:defaultsort thing. If that doesn't answer your question then add the "helpme" template again. Killiondude (talk) 07:46, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
The italics appear when an entry in a category is not a full page but just a redirect, for instance WNPI-TV's entry looks like:
#REDIRECT [[WPBS-TV]]
[[Category: Channel 18 TV stations in the United States]]
(channel 18 just redirects to channel 16) and would therefore appear italicised on the Channel 18 category page (WNPI 18 rebroadcasts NY flagship WPBS 16 into Ottawa). This much is done automatically; I don't know of any other means to force italicisation of a category entry. And defaultsort? I think that only affects where a page is listed within a category, but does not change the displayed name or text formatting. For instance, if an article on Tina Fey were tagged as [[Category:US vice-presidential candidates|Fay, Tina]] the category page entry for the article would still display her name as "Tina Fey" but the listing would appear in the 'F' section within that category - useful mostly for biographies filed by surname. --66.102.80.212 (talk) 17:02, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
The only way to change how a title appears in the category is to place that category on a redirect from the alternate title instead of on the main article. For instance, Category:CBC Radio One programs is on the redirect at Radio Free Vestibule, rather than the target article The Vestibules, in order for that category to display the "Radio Free Vestibule" title. If you were to put that category onto the real article instead, there would be no way to make the category display any title other than "The Vestibules" no matter what you did with it. The same action of placing the category on the redirect also causes that title to display italicized; there's no other way to make that happen. Bearcat (talk) 23:04, 9 March 2009 (UTC)
TV stations
Just so you know, there's not really a lot of point in changing the reference to a city in a TV station's article so that it's pointing to a redirect to the same article instead of directly to the city's article. In new writing, you're certainly free to use shortcuts like Yorkton, SK instead of typing out the whole word "Saskatchewan", if that makes things easier and saves time for you — but if the article's already pointing to Yorkton, Saskatchewan, there's no value in changing the existing link to the SK redirect instead. Defunct TV stations
It wasn't actually you that made the changes I was talking about WRT putting the rebroadcaster's call sign and information into the infoboxes; it was User:New World Man.
CFLA-TV should probably be considered defunct in the strict sense, but what makes that one a bit unusual is that while most of the others dropped their old call signs and became CBLT-6 or CBKT-4 or whatever, CFLA kept the same call sign. So technically the station never stopped broadcasting in the sense that CKNC-TV or CJFB-TV did; it just changed where its programming was coming from.
I'm going to have to look into the CBSET-1 thing a bit more closely; while its current presentation seems not right to me, I'm not sure what would be the best way to handle it. Bearcat (talk) 00:02, 10 March 2009 (UTC)
