Background
Designer Thierry Mugler will serve as the main costume designer for the tour after Knowles fell in love with his work at a recent fashion exhibition, he will conduct a 58-piece wardrobe for Knowles and her dancers and Band for the World Tour. However, Knowles' own clothing lines House of Dereon and Dereon will also contribute to the wardrobe. It has also been announced that Mugler's input will extend to a creative advisor role, as he will contribute to designing the whole show, from lighting to choreography and will even direct three of the many section of the production entitled Dangerously in Love, Ave Maria and the finale. The tour will grace the stage at the 15th annual Essence Music Festival.[3]A picture of the stage was leaked onto the internet on 24th of March, two days before the I Am... Tour will have its first show [4]. Also a picture of the clothing Beyoncé will use in her tour was leaked onto the internet [5]. The designer Thierry Mugler said that he wants to show "The duality between being a woman and a warrior" with the clothing.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly magazine, Knowles stated: "I've been working on this tour for eight months [...] I've been rehearsing and trying to make sure I put my set list together. Right now I'm anxious and I can't sleep -- I'll be wanting to be at rehearsal. That's the only thing I can think about. But I can't wait."[6]

On March 25, 2009 Knowles released a statement on her official Myspace page that Canadian Idol winner Eva Avila will be the opening act for the tour's Canadian dates.[7]
