"3 a.m."
Song

"3am" is the second official single by American rapper Eminem from his upcoming album Relapse.[1] The single was produced by Dr. Dre, along with most of the album, and was released on April 23, 2009 through Shade 45.[2] The song was released onto the iTunes music store April 28, 2009. A music video has been shot, and will be released on May 2nd.[3]

Concept

The song deals with darker themes, reminiscent of his second album The Marshall Mathers LP (of which the song has been compared to already by internet users), such as murder, pitting Eminem as a serial killer. The song has been said to be closer to the overall sound of the album, as opposed to the poppy, fun-poking "We Made You". The song also contains some classic Eminem witty rhymes, such as "I remember the first time I dismembered a family member" and rhyming much of the verses with the same rhyme sound[4].

Eminem quotes a famous line from the movie, The Silence of the Lambs, - "She puts the lotion in the bucket, she puts the lotion on the skin, or she gets the hose again".[5]

Music video

On Shade 45, Eminem announced that the video was finished completely and was shot in Detroit with director Syndrome. It will premiere on Cinemax, May 2 right before the movie The Strangers[6]. A trailer for the video was released on April 30 at 3 a.m. eastern time, via Eminem's Twitter profile[7].
