The Heroic Trio (Dung fong saam hap, TC: 東方三俠, pinyin: dōng fāng sān xiá) is a 1993 Hong Kong action film directed by Johnny To, starring Michelle Yeoh, the late Anita Mui and Maggie Cheung as the titular trio. Other cast include Damian Lau, Anthony Wong Chau-Sang, Paul Chun, James Pak and Yan Yee Kwan.

Plot Summary

An invisible woman is kidnapping newborn babies who are destined to be emperors and delivering them to the mysterious subterranean supernatural Evil Master. The police are powerless, and the city must be saved by three very different women who share a terrible past. Anita Mui plays a mild mannered housewife of a police inspector who's also the mask wearing, sword slinging and knife throwing crime fighter, Wonder Woman; Maggie Cheung plays the shotgun-toting, hard-boiled bounty hunter, Thief Catcher, while Michelle Yeoh is the troubled but determined strong right arm of the Evil Master, Invisible Girl.

The main characters of the film are reunited in a sequel, another 1993 film, Executioners.

Female Heroes

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman is intelligent and helpful. Her identity is Tung and played by Anita Mui. Wonder Woman dreams about that Ching that she has been climbing on the mountain and she had been let go of the handle at the mountain and unknown she had survived or not. This worrys her that she must find her but hearing that the babies has been kidnapped and one baby is kidnapped by Thief Catcher. Tung's husband is Lau and they got married a long time ago.

Ching

Ching is Tung's sister and she had told Tung that she's leaving her home and not coming back and had contacted a villain named Evil Master. She later met Thief Catcher as a childhood friend and they later when they grown up they will never contacted again but reunited when they are older. Ching is the responisible of kidnapping the babies and invisible robe which that Evil master wanted and named her as San as usual.She was played Michelle Yeoh

Thief Catcher

Thief Catcher is a irresponsible detective and she was attracted by Chief of Police and she took the baby and head for the a large cottage. But the baby has been killed and then she met with Ching and asked why Evil Master wants the babies for. She later try to rescue Chief Of Police's baby as her job but later she almost got caught and luckily that she was safe. She teams up with Wonder Woman to rescue the babies and stopping Evil Master's men to attacking the hostages at the Train station. She is played by Maggie Cheung.

Villains

The Evil Master

He is a main villain and hired Ching to steal a newborn babies as her job and Ching had worked for him for many years although Thief Catcher likes to call him as "Damned Old Monster!" because she strongly dislikes him.

Ratings

As of March 30th, 2009, The Heroic Trio has gained an 20% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
