IP Severe

November 2005
Obviously all the same user, the IP list is endless. Keeps continually adding nonsense concerning The Shining (SpongeBob SquarePants Episode) to other articles, and going against established Wikipedia rules, like deleting AfD notices and recreating deleted pages with the same content. The user lurks around SpongeBob articles and is easily noticed by his reversal to his own edits. --Apostrophe 18:26, 30 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
These are related, they are from Royal Liberty School and Hampton School, London. Together, they vandalized A LOT of different articles today and in the last few days. I think I've listed all of them, now I'll go through the talk pages to warn Wikipedians that they are schools' IPs, then I'll check their edits. Many of them have already been blocked previously, but they keep vandalizing, even now as I'm writing. 212.85.15.88's vandalism was previously reported by Zora on November 1, so I've merged the two reports. I've moved this report to the top of this section because they're at it again today. I noticed vandalism from User:212.85.15.66 and User:212.85.15.83 particularly. It looks from their talk pages as if this is a long-term problem. Is a longer-term block appropriate? Stephen Turner 12:56, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, several other of these addresses have been vandalising today too. Stephen Turner 13:04, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe they should be moved to Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress/Long term alerts too. I've looked back at their edits over the last few days, and a very high proportion of them are vandalism. Stephen Turner 14:28, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Annoying, but they all appear to have quit for the moment. Thanks for the good work. · Katefan0(scribble) 19:52, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
They'd stopped because it was after the end of the school day in the UK. They've started again today. These are childish but persistent vandals. They vandalise several articles every day, and judging by their talk pages this has been going on for several weeks. Stephen Turner 10:40, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I think we're going to need a permanent solution to this problem. Checking just for edits today, I see 212.85.15.66 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) contributed a spelling correction to Soulnado and garbage added to Old Age, Stock character, and Vauxhall Bridge; 212.85.15.67 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) contributed garbage to William Shakespeare; 212.85.15.68 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) contributed garbage to Padlock; the list goes on. Individually, they're not cases of Severe vandalism, but they're persistent and irritating - the little dribs and drabs of valuable contributions are vastly overshadowed by the drek. Perhaps putting an IP ban in place for at least a year will help sort things out?--Roland 17:49, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
That would be a technical solution to a social problem, the approach never works. Did anyone consider calling or emailing Someone In Charge? Pilatus 18:54, 25 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the Hampton School has an email address for their staff at staff@hampton.richmond.sch.uk. Is there a form letter that Wikipedia recommends for use?--Roland 06:45, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Has only made two edits today. · Katefan0(scribble) 05:28, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Appears to have stopped. · Katefan0(scribble) 05:28, 23 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Vandalised my page again, nothing has been done about this yet. Can someone please spare a few second to block this ip? Thanks, Dsol 19:06, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Blocked 24 hours. · Katefan0(scribble) 19:40, 22 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
