Summary of Video games WikiProject open tasks:

I have used this time and time again, and it seems to be very accurate. The owner, Hypnos, devotes quite a bit of effort on this site, and it shows. It's constantly updated, organized, and to be honest, better than Wikipedia in terms of KO.

I LIKE PIE AND THIS ARTICLE IS PRETTY GOOD BUT IT STILL NEED REVISIONS PLEASE DO NOT ERASE THIS 162.84.239.174 17:59, 17 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Quality Standards

In the past week this article has been improved significantly and I believe that it is no longer necessary to have the cleanup tags at the beginning. On a seperate note, I'm wondering if it would be an improvement to add each individual skill from each skill tree. This may be too extreme but I will consult other RPG articles. --Tanner 11:09, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I love this game. best ive seen online. nice guide. keep up the good work. i tried playing world of war craft, but was too poor to pay the subscription.

Possible vandalism

The recent edit made by User:216.229.176.68 could be vandalism, based on their history, but since I know nothing about Knight Online, I can't be sure. Anyone want to check the fact and fix it? - Gobeirne 20:49, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I play Kight Online, and I didnt see any new/wrong info in the article. Tho Im not completely sure what you mean, so if you specify alill, I can give you a better answer.

And its also my first time on this site, dunno how suff works here.. If the term "vandalism" has a special meaning in this context that Im not aware of, please enlighten me. :)

Piece of Crap

This whole article is a real piece of BS. Maybe with the exception of the Controversy section (which looks like it got vandalized at the end), all the other sections are written in improper, broken English and leet slang. Obviously this says something about the KO community... I say this article gets overhauled or else it should be deleted (please forgive the harshness =P). 66.109.236.193 17:14, 17 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Back One Revision

This looks terrible. I'm going to try and move it back one revision. The previous one looks like it was more clean then before. GreatG 03:12, 1 April 2006 (UTC) all you guys do is complain about this page and say you are going to fix it, but none of you do, so shut it[reply]

"Notes" Section

It seems that the notes section voices a POV. The "The game lags horribly." comment isn't true for everyone (it works fine for me) and it looks like the code is messed up. FinalHeaven 04:32, 4 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yes when i play the game never lags Drrake

I believe we should add the following link...

http://www.knightonline.vgamingonline.net I found it very helpfull.

No thanks. Under Wikipedia policy links to unofficial forums or non-notable websites should be avoided. Please remember that Wikipedia is not a mirror or a repository of links. Thanks,  Netsnipe  ►  03:16, 29 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Knight Online USA Version

Knight Online Malasian Version

Knight Online Japanese Version

Knight Online Korean Version

Knight Online Private Server —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.0.77.125 (talk) 05:08, 24 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Those are the 4 big hosters of the Knight Online game all 4 websites should have a link on the buttom of the article. NOT only the USA version, that would be just undemocratic.

Honestly I even think the Chinese an Taiwan version should be included.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Spaasje (talkcontribs)

This is the English Wikipedia, so we only need links to the English versions- if you feel so strongly about having the other links, create them in corresponding Wikipedias (the Japanese article already contains it by the way). According to WP:EL, most foreign-language links should be avoided unless they're crucial or contain maps/diagrams not available elsewhere.
Also, if you see the disclaimer "post on the talk page," it means you should discuss changes here before making them. Oh, and you deleted the disclaimer entirely, though I'll assume that was accidental. --Wafulz 19:31, 5 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Malasian Servers are also English, so I assume they can be added also. Yes I messed up with the disclaimer, sorry.

New problems

It should be mentioned in the article that the account confirmation emails for newly registered users are not being sent out since january 2007, so new players can't begin playing. Admins have manually activated those accounts registered between 1st and 8th March, but the problem is not solved, so if someone would to like to begin playing now, it would not be possible.

Criticism

"Some players feel that K2 software does not do enough to prevent/stop "Macroers" who use third party programs to gain an unfair advantage over other players in violation of the Terms of Service. This results in many duped items and money, which in turn creates inflation-a large problem in the game."

So it says in the article. This indeed is true, but most (and I mean vast majority, like 99.99%) of macroers do not use these programs to dupe money (coins) or items, but to gain unfair adavantage in leveling. What they do is log in the game, turn on the macro and let their character gain experience points while they, in fact, are not playing it (but the macro program is). I think there should be another sentence regarding duping, since most of duping comes from bug exploiting (in my ~3 years long KO career I've heard of only one program made for duping, and only one person had the access to that program). The game (at least USKO version) was always full of bugs and cheaters always used to find a way to exploit those bugs, sometimes to gain undeserved experience, but mostly to dupe items/money.

BTW, I deleted one of two "servers" parts of the article since it appeared twice Z0r04st3r 01:47, 27 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would say that is likely true, I have not yet played this game but I am downloading it. In my experience with runescape the game is also overloaded with people using macro's to level/gain items to sell for gp, as well as accounts. Jagex has attempted and recently added an update that they say will ban all people who real life trade. I would think in an online game as popular as KO that they would be able to prevent duping. They know the code they can't be so unknowning of the game they wrote to prevent the cheats from being availiable.
Also this article should include information on the experience leveling system, such as how much exp it takes to level. Not just that there is not enough information on the p2p pay to play cost, and I think that would be a good addition to this page as well. --Topcount345 17:39, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Someone should probably raise a counterpoint to the BBB rating. In order to remain neutral it should be mentioned that the BBB rating of F largely comes from free2play accounts making reports and claims based on ignorance of the terms of service. Also someone should probably add that much of the downtime lately has been due to hardware upgrades by their ISP --pr0x 16:07, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Technically, that line should be deleted. This article is about Knight Online, not the K2 company. - Charleca 17:05, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just wondering why the Criticism section was deleted when all the information on it was accurate —Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.242.147.22 (talk) 22:17, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

a good game Hi I really like the game. Knight Online is a fully 3D dowloadable MMORPG with a vast world to explore, and a chaotic realm to explore. The Free-To-Play version of Knight Online gives players the opportunity to purchase unavailable in-game scrolls which will greatly help the players in their clan war, player versus player, hunting and levelling up by boosting the players characters in many ways. The scrolls are able to increase attack power, boosting defence rating, increasing maximum hit points etc. The grafics aren't so good but i liked the easy gameplay and the caracteristic of the game has good hints about monsters and its locations. And there is only a thing i dont like the bugs and dificulty to find items for mage and warrior at begin levels. But i give 4 stars. By the way,I believe that many guys will be tired of getting gold by killing monsters, and me too although I love this game very much. So I have to look for some good sites to buy gold. Luckily, I have found one------gkplayer dot com which I think is not a scaming site at least. their service and price are reasonale too.I trust it and I am often buy gold from the site. I think maybe you guys can have a try. It does no bad, I think.Currently they have a 5% free point promotion. After you have tried, you may agree with me.

Sorry, but the game is overrun by bots and hackers. Sure, go buy gold from an online site; all you are doing is giving botters and hackers incentive to keep cheating. Mgames and K2 do very little to get the cheating under control, yet routinely have promotions in the power up store (PUS) to lure you into spending real cash. It is suspected by legitimate players that Mgames and/or K2 are behind the cheat programs, hence the lack of security in-game. Besides the enormous amount of cheating, more and more accounts are being hacked; people attempt to log on, only to find out their info has been changed, or they get to log in to find out all their items are gone. They make minor changes which I consider "window dressing" - a change in the pointer, more items in the PUS, etc., but fail to address all the bugs and hacks that are rampant in the game. Since the Forgotten Frontiers update, clan listings have been bugged, some areas disabled, a new security program promised but never delivered; recently, changes to quests have resulted in bugged quests (cannot complete quest, and some you cannot even obtain). Opinion: Don't Waste Your Time On This Game! If you don't pay real money to purchase premium and PUS items, you most likely will not be able to log the main servers to participate in events. Additionally, attempts to complete some quests will leave you frustated due to the botters and hackers that deny you the kills needed (try hunting 50, 200 monsters only to have a macroer 1 hit everything in site!). Go play WoW or Guild Wars; at least they are proactive in keeping cheating at minimum levels.

Fair use rationale for Image:KOScreenShot.jpg

Image:KOScreenShot.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

A more general write-up needed

Can someone write a better description of the gameplay? I have no idea what players DO in this game. What are the goals? What types of areas exist and what is possible within them? See the World of Warcraft article under gameplay for an example.

An explanation of why the game is the 4th most popular MMORPG in the world would be nice. What games is this similar to and what sets it apart from them?

Thanks. Hirebrand (talk) 00:58, 26 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Notability & References

This article does not contain any information as to why it is notable, and is completely unreferenced. In looking a little bit, I noticed the German entry (here) contains quite a few references. Can someone who speaks German copy those references into this article? BradV 16:34, 5 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
