Project directory

Hello. The WikiProject Council has recently updated the Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Directory. This new directory includes a variety of categories and subcategories which will, with luck, potentially draw new members to the projects who are interested in those specific subjects. Please review the directory and make any changes to the entries for your project that you see fit. There is also a directory of portals, at User:B2T2/Portal, listing all the existing portals. Feel free to add any of them to the portals or comments section of your entries in the directory. The three columns regarding assessment, peer review, and collaboration are included in the directory for both the use of the projects themselves and for that of others. Having such departments will allow a project to more quickly and easily identify its most important articles and its articles in greatest need of improvement. If you have not already done so, please consider whether your project would benefit from having departments which deal in these matters. It is my hope that all the changes to the directory can be finished by the first of next month. Please feel free to make any changes you see fit to the entries for your project before then. If you should have any questions regarding this matter, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you. B2T2 17:03, 25 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion

I suggest the group the reconsideration of the part about the ethnic groups in the city of Cattaro/Kotor. There, in a given list of ethnic groups, such as Montenegrins, Serbs,Croats, etc., a category under the name of "the Muslims" seems odd to me. Excuse me but isn't there a difference between the definition of ethnic groups and religion groups? I do not understand why a religion group falls under the category of ethnic groups. Who are these "the Muslims"? The Turks, the Arabs, or the native people who converted to Islam? Say they are the native people, does it make a difference? Is there any difference between a Christian Montenegrin and a Muslim Montenegrin in respect to their ethnicity? Cliom (talk) 21:09, 3 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I suggest all members take a look at the Order I've established at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject Belgrade. It failed because there aren't many members, and those who are members are mostly inactive - but it could work here... just a suggestion, any opinion on how I dealt with the situation? --PaxEquilibrium 23:48, 8 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

@Cliom Hey, next time try clicking "new section" so it would be in order by date. Anyway Muslim as ethnic group, well it's very discussable but what is most importing that people in Montenegro can declare as a Muslim (in ethnic meaning). It was like that since the communism and some Muslims in Montenegro declare them self as Bosniaks, some as Muslims and some as Montenegrins.

"Is there any difference between a Christian Montenegrin and a Muslim Montenegrin in respect to their ethnicity? "

Not really. Like I said, there are people who are Muslim(religion) but say for them self they are Montenegrin, and some declare as Bosniaks/Muslims. It's a long story, but the point is that they can declare them self as Muslims, and in each census you have % of declared Bosniaks and Muslims, and they are separate. Wikipedia Day Awards

Hello, all. It was initially my hope to try to have this done as part of Esperanza's proposal for an appreciation week to end on Wikipedia Day, January 15. However, several people have once again proposed the entirety of Esperanza for deletion, so that might not work. It was the intention of the Appreciation Week proposal to set aside a given time when the various individuals who have made significant, valuable contributions to the encyclopedia would be recognized and honored. I believe that, with some effort, this could still be done. My proposal is to, with luck, try to organize the various WikiProjects and other entities of wikipedia to take part in a larger celebrartion of its contributors to take place in January, probably beginning January 15, 2007. I have created yet another new subpage for myself (a weakness of mine, I'm afraid) at User talk:Badbilltucker/Appreciation Week where I would greatly appreciate any indications from the members of this project as to whether and how they might be willing and/or able to assist in recognizing the contributions of our editors. Thank you for your attention. Badbilltucker 21:25, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bilateral relations discussion

I would like to invite you all to participate in a discussion at this thread regarding bilateral relations between two countries. All articles related to foreign relations between countries are now under the scope of WikiProject Foreign relations, a newly created project. We hope that the discussion will result in a more clean and organized way of explaining such relationships. Thank you. Ed ¿Cómo estás? 18:46, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Activity

Is anyone of the parpicipants of this project active(except Pax, CrnaGora and myself)??? I tried to create some sort of collaboration project, but I don't think it's worth bothering, since this WikiProject is de facto dead...Sideshow Bob 03:42, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The same happened with every single Yugoslav Wikipedian Project, so it should not look strange to ya. --PaxEquilibrium 16:59, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Balkanitis, eh? :) Yes, I guess that's what you would expect from us trying to get organised... More disorder. Sideshow Bob 19:06, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There's an article about it: Balkanization. --PaxEquilibrium 21:18, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Article Montenegrins !? Thats some joke ?

Montenegrins Image

I've created a new image for the Montenegrins article, i'm still working out the copyright and I would like to have your opinions on it, I tried to incorporate famous as well as representative Montenegrins from a variety of time periods.

Thanks Critikal1 09:41, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think I agree with any image without Peter II Petrovic-Njegos. ;0) --PaxEquilibrium 12:28, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I created a better one(well, in my opinion), but I'm having troubles uploading it on Wiki. It says the file is corrupt or has an incorrect extension(?). Until I succeed in that, you can see it here. Sideshow Bob 15:08, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I respect your opinion but let me point out what I believe is wrong with your picture.

First of all the pictures are of low quality, second I believe that the picture does not accurately represent the montenegrin people today, the saint, marko miljanov and dejan savicevic especially.

I believe Andrija Zmajevic is a better choice than Marko Miljanov for the simple fact he represents the many Catholic Montenegrins today, and that he called his language simply "Slavic", which today coincides with the fact that a growing number of montenegrins call their language "montenegrin".

Pax, King Nikola is much more appropriate than Njegos, although Njegos is a popular figure, King Nikola I believe is a better representative of the Montenegrin people, besides the fact that there are several statues of Nikola all over Montenegro. ;-). Critikal1 20:49, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Draft Guidelines for Lists of companies by country - Feedback Requested

Within WikiProject Companies I am trying to establish guidelines for all Lists of companies by country, the implementation of which would hopefully ensure a minimum quality standard and level of consistency across all of these related but currently disparate articles. The ultimate goal is the improvement of these articles to Featured List status. As a WikiProject that currently has one of these lists within your scope, I would really appreciate your feedback! You can find the draft guidelines here. Thanks for your help as we look to build consensus and improve Wikipedia! - Richc80 (talk) 13:34, 26 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Changes to the WP:1.0 assessment scheme

As you may have heard, we at the Wikipedia 1.0 Editorial Team recently made some changes to the assessment scale, including the addition of a new level. The new description is available at WP:ASSESS.

  • The new C-Class represents articles that are beyond the basic Start-Class, but which need additional references or cleanup to meet the standards for B-Class.
  • The criteria for B-Class have been tightened up with the addition of a rubric, and are now more in line with the stricter standards already used at some projects.
  • A-Class article reviews will now need more than one person, as described here.

Each WikiProject should already have a new C-Class category at Category:C-Class_articles. If your project elects not to use the new level, you can simply delete your WikiProject's C-Class category and clarify any amendments on your project's assessment/discussion pages. The bot is already finding and listing C-Class articles.

Please leave a message with us if you have any queries regarding the introduction of the revised scheme. This scheme should allow the team to start producing offline selections for your project and the wider community within the next year. Thanks for using the Wikipedia 1.0 scheme! WWII Montenegrin flag

There are two flags floating around WP which claim to be the flag of the Kingdom of Montenegro (1941-1944). First, on the article for the WWII kingdom it shows this flag = [1] . But then on the article for the Flag of Montenegro it says this flag = [2] is the flag of the WWII kingdom. Well which one is the flag of the WWII kingdom? I am inclined to believe that is is the former, because I doubt the Nazis would approve of pan-Slavic colors which are the basis of the second flag. --Tocino 05:54, 06 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia 0.7 articles have been selected for Montenegro

Wikipedia 0.7 is a collection of English Wikipedia articles due to be released on DVD, and available for free download, later this year. The Wikipedia:Version 1.0 Editorial Team has made an automated selection of articles for Version 0.7.

We would like to ask you to review the articles selected from this project. These were chosen from the articles with this project's talk page tag, based on the rated importance and quality. If there are any specific articles that should be removed, please let us know at Wikipedia talk:Version 0.7. You can also nominate additional articles for release, following the procedure at Wikipedia:Release Version Nominations.

A list of selected articles with cleanup tags, sorted by project, is available. The list is automatically updated each hour when it is loaded. Please try to fix any urgent problems in the selected articles. A team of copyeditors has agreed to help with copyediting requests, although you should try to fix simple issues on your own if possible.

We would also appreciate your help in identifying the version of each article that you think we should use, to help avoid vandalism or POV issues. These versions can be recorded at this project's subpage of User:SelectionBot/0.7. We are planning to release the selection for the holiday season, so we ask you to select the revisions before October 20. At that time, we will use an automatic process to identify which version of each article to release, if no version has been manually selected. Thanks! shield identification

Image:-RepublicSrbska.jpg is somehow related to Serbia, but this is not the national shield. Can anyone identify it? Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 17:26, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's labeled as an alternative variant of the logo of the Scouting Association of the Serbian Republic; see Savjet izviđačkih organizacija u Bosni i Hercegovini. — Kpalion(talk) 18:01, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but what is the shield inside from? It doesn't match any Wiki article I can find. Chris (クリス • フィッチ) (talk) 01:31, 3 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Montenegro page makeover

Hi,

Was wondering if anyone would like for me to do a makeover for the WikiProject Montenegro page? It will look really good. Let me know if you all are interested. Regards. Wiki Raja (talk) 04:53, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, let's see what you've got -- CD 18:33, 18 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Will let you know in a week. Wiki Raja (talk) 06:46, 19 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Montenegro page makeover complete

Hi,

Please let me know what you all think of this new and improved page here I've created for the WikiProject Montenegro. If you all like it, then I'll go ahead and merge this page. Regards. Wiki Raja (talk) 03:20, 23 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is way better then the current one. You have my support. Sideshow Bob 16:46, 24 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is nice, although some amendments for aesthetic purpose should occur. For example, I don't know about others, but I don't really think that the buttons in the top are rather nice. I understand the idea (impression from the national Flag), but still. --PaxEquilibrium (talk) 10:22, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, come on, no need for nitpicking... If you can do a better job, go on, no one is stopping you :) Sideshow Bob 10:42, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinators' working group

Hi! I'd like to draw your attention to the new WikiProject coordinators' working group, an effort to bring both official and unofficial WikiProject coordinators together so that the projects can more easily develop consensus and collaborate. This group has been created after discussion regarding possible changes to the A-Class review system, and that may be one of the first things discussed by interested coordinators.

All designated project coordinators are invited to join this working group. If your project hasn't formally designated any editors as coordinators, but you are someone who regularly deals with coordination tasks in the project, please feel free to join as well. — Delievered by §hepBot (Disable) on behalf of the WikiProject coordinators' working group at 06:03, 28 February 2009 (UTC) [reply]

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Thanks. — Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 09:26, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)

Montenegro Country Article

Hello. I was reviewing the article on Montenegro and noted that much of the article has problems with grammar, style, and as a result, does not read well. I am not sure if cleaning the article is already part of the wider Montenegro project. If so, I will leave it in the hands of those responsible for that. If not, and there is consensus, I can start cleaning the article to conform to written English. Please advise. Thanks.Gary Joseph (talk) 15:34, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You want to write it grammatically correct? Sure, Montenegrin articles needs a support from people whose English is native language and who speak it and write it properly. Rave92(talk) 19:22, 13 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Dobar Dan". Okay. I will get on it as soon as possible. I will have to do it in parts, as the article is long and I do not want to override new changes being made to it. I will only change it for grammar and some style, but not for content. If I see any change that might conceivably affect content, I will flag it and leave it up to the Project for discussion. I will keep you updated on my progress. Thanks.Gary Joseph (talk) 21:23, 15 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
