Merger proposal

I propose that the article "Single Action Mounted Shooting" be merged into this article, "Cowboy Mounted Shooting". Cowboy Mounted Shooting is a notable shooting sport that is definitely a legitimate topic for a Wikipedia article. Single Action Mounted Shooting is one of the organizations devoted to Cowboy Mounted Shooting, and as such it doesn't necessarily need its own article. Some of the material from the other article has already been incorporated into this article anyway. Based on the discussion at the other article's talk page, some of which has been deleted, it's clear that we should allow enough time for multiple editors to discuss this idea in this talk section before actually performing the merge, as per the guidelines at Help:Merge. I'd suggest a minimum of 5 days, depending on how the discussion goes. Mudwater (Talk) 11:56, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds reasonable. Thanks! Plastikspork (talk) 17:29, 16 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
We also already have Cowboy Action Shooting, which needs to be added to this mix. They already have a subsection on Cowboy Mounted Shooting there. Perhaps that chunk can be moved over here, And no, Howes, I am not "harassing" you. I have only been trying to help you all along. Montanabw(talk) 23:09, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Cowboy Mounted Shooting is a subset of Cowboy Action Shooting, so moving some of that material from the other article to this one, leaving a short summary in the other article, might be a good idea. Or on the other hand maybe what's in the other article can just be left there, with the more extensive coverage in this article. Mudwater (Talk) 23:22, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I would also like to offer a suggestion about this talk page. The discussion in the Single Action Mounted Shooting talk page got to be quite heated, and some angry words were exchanged. I think it would be best if we left all that behind us. There's no reason to discuss any further the details of what happened, whether or not one editor was harassing another editor, and so on. We can confine our discussion to this article itself, and focus on working to improve it. We may not always agree about that, but by talking about the article itself we should be able to work together from this point forward. Mudwater (Talk) 23:28, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I recommend that the content of the Mounted Shooting section of the cowboy action shooting page be added to this article, with additional editing to merge it in with this article and improve the style of both. Montanabw(talk) 00:12, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
1. I split off the SAMS article and created this page and left out anything that does not apply to this article.
2. Do whatever you want. The Board of Directors of SAMS Cowboys has made their final decisions.
3. Be forewarned about Wikipedia - per Wikipedia's policy: If you don't want your writing to be edited mercilessly or redistributed for profit by others, do not submit it. HowesR1 (talk) 01:08, 18 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The consensus is to merge the other article, "Single Action Mounted Shooting", into this article, "Cowboy Mounted Shooting". The discussion about this occurred in two different places: (1) in this talk page section, and (2) at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Single Action Mounted Shooting. So, I'm going to go ahead with the merge now. This article already has some of the other article merged into it, so I'm not going to merge in any more, but that shouldn't stop other editors from updating this article as they think appropriate. For reference, here are the contents of the other article before the merge. Mudwater (Talk) 00:57, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The merger has been completed. Thanks to all involved parties for working together to get to where we are. Mudwater (Talk) 01:19, 25 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm going to wait and see how long these sections stay up here considering they are unsourced and unreferenced and some of them are just plain wrong due to merge mistakes: Firearms, Costume, Competition, Scoring, Safety, Awards, Class, Blank Ammunition and Targets. The longer it takes the funnier it will be! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.236.143.130 (talk) 16:23, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello there Howes. How about just helping to make the article better? Or, if that is not something you have time or interest to do, please add the "citation needed" template (it looks like this:{{fact}} where needed and add offer some good sources so that someone else who wants to help and jump in and do the cleanup. Montanabw(talk) 23:53, 30 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Are you asking for help? There are a few words in the English language used by civilized people when they need or want help. Those words start with "Please" and end with "Thank you". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.236.143.130 (talk) 19:07, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Please help improve this article if you have constructive suggestions or useful information to add. Thank you. Please avoid making unkind or snide comments to prove a WP:POINT. Thank you. Please Assume good faith on the part of other editors. Thank you. Please realize that you are not fooling anyone by logging in without a user name. Thank you. Please be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Thank you. Montanabw(talk) 02:58, 1 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Naw. I tried to be part of the solution and everything I did was treated like manure. I tried to help you and this article and I was ridiculed and ripped to shreds. I asked for help to stop your vandalism and harassment and all your admin friends didn't care. My interests are elsewhere. This article can remain damaged or you can fix it or someone else can fix it. And I wouldn't try to fool you. There's no need to. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.236.143.130 (talk) 18:45, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am so sorry that you fail to see that everything you have accused wikipedia editors and admins of doing is something that you actually were doing here. I have never vandalized any article on wikipedia, and what you deemed "harassment" was simple the wikipedia policy of allowing EVERYONE to edit. As it says in every editing window, "If you do not want your writing to be edited, used, and redistributed at will, then do not submit it here." Montanabw(talk) 21:51, 18 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry that you have been rude and insulting at every turn INCLUDING this one. I guess the old saying holds true. In the land of fools the biggest fool is king.
