"Summertime"
Song

"Summertime" is a song by R&B singer Beyoncé Knowles featuring rapper P. Diddy and Ghostface Killah on the remix version, released as the second and final single to promote the film The Fighting Temptations in 2003, in which Knowles plays the leading lady. The song is not featured in the film but is part of the official soundtrack. It first appeared as a B-side to Knowles' 2003 smash hit "Crazy in Love".

The song talks about the romance and later marriage between the film's two main characters (Cuba Gooding Jr. and Knowles). Although Gooding's character (Darrin) was in love with Knowles' character (Lilly) from day one, she didn't always feel the same until later on in the film. Near the end of the film, he proposes to her and she accepts. OThey eventually got married (offscreen) and within eighteen months they had a baby (a son) together, making Darrin a father and also stepfather to Lilly's other son.

Released on October 28, 2003, the song garnered enough attention to peak at number 35 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks.[1] The song charted with the artists listed as Beyoncé Featuring P. Diddy Or Ghostface Killah because both versions of the song were receiving heavy rotation on urban radio. The song was part of the set list of Knowles' Dangerously in Love World Tour and Performances of the song can be seen on two DVDs. A solo performance on her own DVD of the tour, Beyoncé: Live at Wembley, and a performance featuring Ghostface Killah on the Jay-Z documentary Fade to Black.
