Lahore (Hindi: लाहौर; Urdu: لاہور) is a 2010 Bollywood sports film that was released on March 19, 2010. It was directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan and produced by Vivek Khatkar, with Sai Om Films Pvt. Ltd.’s, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

The film stars debutants Aanaahad and Shraddha Das in lead roles and has veteran actors like Farouque Shaikh, Nafisa Ali, Late Nirmal Pandey, Sushant Singh, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Saurabh Shukla, Ashish Vidyarthi, Kelly Dorji, Mukesh Rishi, K Jeeva, Shraddha Nigam in key roles.

Plot

Lahore with the backdrop of a violent sport, kickboxing, tries to depict a strong message of unity and sportsman spirit between two nations India and Pakistan. It emphasizes the impact of sports on the lives of people through the medium of two brothers and their love for each other.

Hollywood's Master Tony Leung Siu Hung was the Action Choreographer of the film. Background Score has been done by Wayne Sharpe. Lizbeth Scott of Avatar, Munich, Chronicles of Narnia fame has sung vocals for Lahore also her first Asian Film. Rob Miller, who earlier won a Filmfare award for Chak De! India (2007), is Lahore's sports consultant [1]. MM Kreem has done music for the film.

Home release

Lahore's DVD's and VCD's are available in Hindi with English subtitles on Moserbaer Home Video.[2] DVD also features making of the film.

It has already won various international awards including, Special Jury Award at the 42nd WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival [3], Best Actor - Aanaahad at Tenerife International Film Festival(UK), Most Aspiring Film Maker(Sanjay Chauhan) at Filmmakers International Film Festival(UK), Best actor - Aanaahad - at Salento International Film Festival, Italy and had all 6 nominations at Asian Festival Of First Films, Singapore.

Criticism

Many have criticized the movie Lahore for its overtly hateful message portraying Pakistan in a bad light and sensationalizing the conflict between the two countries. Although the producer of this film has said to the media that the film speaks about the peace between these two countries. [4] However many critics have criticized that the movie Lahore only creates greater resentment between India and Pakistan. [5]

  • In the prelude to the film, a quote from the Wikipedia article on Lahore was used:
