Samurai Warriors 3 (戦国無双3, Sengoku Musō 3, Sengoku Musou 3 in Japan) is the third installment in the Samurai Warriors series, created by Tecmo Koei and Omega Force. The game was released in Japan on December 3, 2009, Europe on May 28, 2010, Australia on June 10, 2010, and in North America on September 27, 2010 for the Wii.[1][2]

Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo attended the game's Press Conference on August 5, 2009, to present a new mode in the game based on the Famicom Disk System game Nazo no Murasame Jō.[3] Nintendo will be publishing and distributing the game outside of Japan.[4][5]

A port for the PlayStation 3, called Samurai Warriors 3 Z, was announced on November 2, 2010.

New characters

Seven new characters made their playable debut in the Samurai Warriors franchise, most of them former generic non-player characters in past installments.

  • Kaihime - daughter of Hojo clan retainer Ujinara Narita. Her weapon is a sword-whip.
  • Kiyomasa Kato - loyal retainer of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, and later joins Ieyasu Tokugawa at the Battle of Sekigahara. His weapon is a scythe.
  • Kanbei Kuroda - chief strategist of Hideyoshi Toyotomi, feared by many for his demonic look. His weapon is an orb that can be separated into three orbs if the attacks are timed correctly.
  • Ujiyasu Hojo - lord of the Hojo clan. His weapon is a cane that has a sword hidden inside, which can also fire bullets.
  • Muneshige Tachibana - husband of Ginchiyo Tachibana. His weapon is a western-style sword and shield.
  • Hanbei Takenaka - strategist of the Saito clan, later joins Hideyoshi Toyotomi. His weapon is a compass with blades used like a Yo-yo.
  • Motonari Mori - lord of the Mōri clan. His weapons are his countless emissaries and a crossbow which is attached to his arm and can fire three arrows at the same time.
  • Takamaru - A samurai sent into Murasame Castle, originally appearing in Nazo no Murasamejo. He was added as a special character, his addition to the roster does not count towards the seven new characters. His moveset is similar to the generic sword moveset.
