Ramesh Aravind (Template:Lang-kn) or Ramesh is a popular Kannada, Tamil and Telugu movie actor. He is considered one of the most versatile actors in Kannada cinema, who has also acted in Tamil movies. He is a Mechanical Engineering graduate from UVCE, Bangalore.
Early days
Ramesh's histrionic talent found expression early in his student days when he acted in many plays. The Kannada film Sundara Swapnagalu was Ramesh's debut.
Career uprising
After giving impressive performances in Panchamaveda, Srigandha and Aragini, Ramesh had to spend quite a few years in wilderness.
In Telugu, he did movies like Little Soldiers, Rudraveena, Sathi leelavathi, etc. In Tamil he made successful films like Keladi Kanmani, Duet and many others. With his brilliant performance in films like Anuraga Sangama, Ulta Palta, Tutta Mutta, Chandramukhi Pranasakhi, Gombe, Nammoora Mandara Hoove, America America, Hoomale, Deepavali and Sneha Loka he has been the favorite of Kannada moviegoers. He had nine 100 days films in a row, which is a record.
Awards
He is indeed one of the most natural actors on screen breathing life into any character he plays. This friendly actor has also written the story and screenplay for the film 'Hoomale', which got the National award for best Kannada film of that year.

Direction
Ramesh Aravind's first two directorial ventures, Rama Shama Bhama and Sathyavaan Savithri, were comedies and had a fair degree of success at the box office. His third directorial venture, Accident, was a critically acclaimed thriller that, however, failed to entice the audience. His next directorial venture, Venkata in Sankata, was released in 2009 and it went on to become a super hit movie.
Writer
Hoomale, a National Award winning movie, directed by Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, is based on the story written by Ramesh. Amrithadhare too had the story by Ramesh. He also wrote the story and screenplay for this third directorial venture Accident, a suspense thriller which got a lot of critical appreciation.[2]
Ventures
He is also directing a film for a new corporate firm, Sinema House. Veteran comedy actor M. S. Umesh who was introduced as a child artist in the fifties' classical Kannada film Makkala Rajya is doing a special role in the film. "In a career spanning over five decades, this is the first time that I am experimenting with such a role. When Ramesh told me about this role, I was quite excited. I think this film will be memorable in my career' says Umesh. Sharmila Mandre, model Anusha and a new actress Meghana Mudhiyan are the heroines. Another well known Tulu theatre artist Devadas Kappikad plays an important role in the film. Well-known Telugu film writer Thotapalli Madhu, who has written the story and screenplay for over 190 films, has penned the script for the film.
