Singularity is an upcoming epic romance time travel adventure film. Helmed by Roland Joffé from a story by Ajey Jhankar, the film is a sweeping tale of an impossible love set against the backdrop of the first Anglo-Maratha war across two time periods and continents and centred around four characters — a British officer in 18th century colonial India, the Indian woman he falls deeply in love with, an American present-day marine biologist and his wife.[4]

Singularity is currently in production and filming started on 15 November 2010. The film is tentatively slated for an Autumn 2011 theatrical release.[5]

Premise

Great Barrier Reef, 2020. After a dangerous dive to save his wife trapped while exploring a colonial British merchant ship wreckage, Jay Fennel, a rugged and attractive marine archeologist lies brain dead in a Boston hospital.

Fennel's dream-like coma takes us back in time to Pune, India in 1778. The British East India Company is invading the palaces and a young captain named James Stewart, who bears a striking resemblance to Fennel, is about to embark on a dangerous mission. Along the way he encounters murder, deceit, betrayal and revenge. He falls deeply in love with a Marathi warrior named Tulaja Naik, an impossible love which he must fight for.

Only the power of a ring can transcend time and save a life.[6]

Cast

Production

Singularity is being produced by Paul Breuls' Corsan NV, Dale G. Bradley's Limelight International Media Entertainment and co-financed by Ajey Jhankar's Neelmudra Entertainment. Sales outfit Corsan World Sales, a division of Corsan NV, is handling international sales.

The film kicked off production in Queensland on 8 November 2010 through to the second or third week of January 2011. The production then moves to India for a further five weeks. The production was originally planned for the United Kingdom instead of Australia.[5][12]

The epic drama, previously known as The Invaders, has been in works since the late 1990s and was due to feature Hollywood actor Brendan Fraser and Bollywood actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi.[13][14]
