My girlfriend and I have come across some evidence that Bata shoes in Nazi occupied Czechoslovakia was complicit in abusing Jewish slave labor during the war. We'll verify and articulate what we've uncovered soon if it all pans out. The book where Bata's darker history seems to be uncovered is Martin Gilbert's book 'The Holocaust, The Jewish Tragedy'(Gilbert is the well read and prolific official biographer for Winston Churchill).

I heard that Bata started making machine parts for one of the World Wars (1 or 2?), because demand was high, and they had some specialized equipment. I also heard that there is some town which was basically founded because of Bata's factory being there, and the town still exists today. Is it called Bata? I can't remember. I think I saw this on a biography of Mr. Bata on CBC. If anyone can find out these details, stick 'em in. dave 17:29 21 Jul 2003 (UTC)

"world's largest family-owned company"

Is it really larger than Irving and Toyota? Do we have verifiable numbers on that, or do we just have the company's say so? --Yannick 1 July 2005 06:50 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Bata Shoes Logo.gif

Image:Bata Shoes Logo.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:09, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

page needs cleanup

Someone's columns got out of whack. Sorry...I don't know how to fix the code. Kyriosity 23:33, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Note section - World Cup

The World Cup sponsorship note is interesting but trivial. It seems out of place. Leirith (talk) 04:46, 8 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The BATA group structure

In the next few days I will publish the whole structure of the group here (owners, companies, holdings, etc), but I don't know how to do this. Advices will be wellcome. Now I have an incredibly big Excel file, but I have to "translate" it to Wikipedia. 77.211.187.150 (talk) 17:22, 20 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Communist Czechoslovakia

The paragraph reads like a personal essay. Phrases like 'clear his good name', ' took the brave step' are opinions and not objective statements. Phrases like 'the inability of his attorneys to be allowed to offer a defence' and 'invented two new charges' are sweeping statements and need citation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.223.238.191 (talk) 04:59, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Place of foundation

>>> Bata Shoes (Czech: Baťa or Baťovy závody) is a large, family owned shoe company based in Bermuda <<< I'm Czech and I've really never heard anything about basing Bata company in Bermuda. Seems to me like some joke. It was based in Zlín, Czech republic. Or at least I didn't manage to find anything else. See the year 1894 on the timeline at http://www.bata.com/history.php. I'm not sure how it was meant though so I better didn't modify it. Does anyone have an explanation? --87.198.133.78 (talk) 00:44, 19 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
