Áine Collins is an Irish Fine Gael politician.[2] She was elected as a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Cork North–West constituency at the 2011 general election. One of three Fine Gael candidates including Michael Creed and Derry Canty, she received 17.2% of first preference votes and was elected on the sixth count without reaching the quota.[3] Born in Banteer, County Cork, she now lives in Millstreet, County Cork.[1]
Collins is a certified accountant. She once famously told economist Constantin Gurdgiev to "get on a plane back to Moscow" such was the level of his criticism of Fine Gael's policies when in government.[4] The comment came as she informed demonstrators she was finding it difficult to make ends meet on her salary of €92,672 and expenses claims totalling almost €52,000 the previous year.[5]

We all know the details of the case by now... before going on to suggest that Trinity economist Constantin Gurdgiev, who has been consistently critical of the Government's response to the financial crisis, should "get on a plane back to Moscow".
