That's a moot point, and no reason to have us change. What do you mean "cleared for copyright"? If you did not take them personally, then the copyright holder will need to release them to Wikipedia themselves, as per WP:IUP. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 12:20, 16 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The logo image was created by my company's planning department. I just want to replace the old logo with the new. The other image, the one taken of the CNG fueling station was taken by an employee in the planning department on the day of the station grand opening. As for the other image, the copyright owners will need to release the images as per the image use policy - we cannot take your word for it. Also if they gave you permission, then you should upload the pictures to our free image repository, the Commons. Unfortunately, the image uploaded is not the one that I intended to upload but a white background version. I will look into the Commons, I don't understand why this is so difficult, I just want to make my wiki page, that no one from my company (or anyone else) has touched in years, current. I would like to acquire confirmed rights so I can contribute to music albums. It is a hobby of mine to research music and I see a lot of albums daily that either don't have an image uploaded or have an incorrect image uploaded. I enjoy writing about descriptions and updated news for albums and artists and if I had the confirmed rights I could follow through with the whole page including uploading updated images and such. I also enjoy updating MMA fighter profiles and I see a lot of fighter profiles without pictures. I would like to be able to fix this. These rights would be greatly appreciated and never abused. I will only use approved images and files and give credit where credit is due. I will get permission to use copyrighted images. In the case of pictures about MMA fighters, the copyright owners will need to release the images as per the image use policy (we cannot take your word for it). Understood 100%. I understand you can't take my word for it but with that being said even if the copyright owners release the image to be used in a bio of the fighter how would you know that it is released for use? Perhaps if you keep a letter as proof of communication between the parties with written permission for use. I plan to make sure everything I upload or edit and any images I obtain will be in 100% legal use. Before I even asked for the confirmed rights I had all intention on doing everything by the book even if I have to go the extra mile and send out e-mails for every picture I may or may not use. Like I said its more of a hobby and type of passion I guess you'd say working on wiki. I've had this account since 07 but unfortunately most of everything I've already done was logged out and recorded under my ip. That was my mistake as I forgot I had the account.   •  Already done you are now autoconfirmed but please do not upload any fair use images of living people. They do not meet our WP:image use policy for non-free content. THey are replaceable, in other words someone can take a picture of them and assign it a free copyright and upload the image. If you do find a free image of them you should upload it to the commons:upload. That is our free image repository. The photo is a company logo which I believe falls under the fair use exemption because it would be used for research since this is an encyclopedia. Since the article you want to use this in is still a draft in the Articles for Creation process we can not host it. This is a logo owned by IObit for SmartDefrag. It is from the mentioned link in IObit website. Because it is a logo there is almost certainly no free equivalent. Any substitute that is not a derivative work would fail to convey the meaning intended, would tarnish or misrepresent its image, or would fail its purpose of identification or commentary. I believe that use of the logo in the referring article complies with Wikipedia non-free content policy, logo guidelines, and fair use under United States copyright law. The images I will use are the sole image (logo) used to represent a company or non-profit organization, and all will be publicly available and non-commercial in intent. Secondly, they will be the sole image capable of representing the organizations in accordance with their preferences (i.e. no free images are available). Thirdly, being publicly available and intended for PR use, these images can not negatively effect any commercial interest. Finally, the images represent the absolute minimum of non-free material that can be used to represent these organizations, consisting only of their publicly available logos.
