Sure, it just bothers me when people remove perfectly good content for no reason other than being to lazy to actually do good research.

Trewyy (talk) 18:11, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It may not be as perfectly good content good content as you may think, I have started a discussion at Talk:Firefox#Is the Firefox logo free?. Bottom line, Mozilla's own trademark policy forbids commercial use, which makes it incompatible with Wikipedia's. Яehevkor 18:27, 14 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Firefox, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Flash (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Robin complaints

Dear Trewyy (Tigeryoshi),

How my work could be sub-par & yours great…!!?? I had long noticed your contributions in the article Firefox & realized that, you will insert your own work even though some one has placed a better screenshot than you. And when I uploaded the screenshot yesterday, I expected you to replace my image & so happened…!!

If my work is sub-par because of resolution, I have Monitor of 1024x768 pixel resolutions only & so the resulting image too would be of that resolution. But it doesn’t mean that 1024x768 standards are obsolete, but that resolution is still in existence today & is supported also. Sorry, but you’re now actually forcing me to think that you’re one of the responsible person in vandalizing Wikipedia’s motives by your attitude that you’re great than everyone else. Wikipedia is to share legit information but not to show one’s attitude.

Hello Robin Mathew Rajan,
I'm truly sorry if you believe that I insert my work over others work. In this case, I have not inserted my own work over yours. The image was uploaded by another user, not by me. I reverted your image because it is more confusing than the image created by Das Schäfchen. His image has more licenses, a good reason to have his image kept. In addition, his image has transparency where Windows Aero is available. Another reason to not have your image is that the "About Firefox" box is not generally displayed. As for the resolution, it really isn't important when we are inserting an image so small, it didn't factor into my decision to remove it. Your image is also cut off on the side, and still has some of background in the corners. Overall, Das Schäfchen's image is simply better when it comes to the quality (not resolution, just the content). At this point in time, I am happy with the image we have. I would recommend creating an image similar to Das Schäfchen's in the future, and I would be more than happy to use your image. As for me removing the image yesterday, I did that because Firefox 12 hadn't been released on http://firefox.com. But because the quality didn't improve I removed it again.
You believe that I remove images that are better, and insert my own images. I wouldn't say so, I certainly believe that I pick the better image, not my own image. I have some images that I created that are currently used on the page that I would say are below quality of the other images, but because there are no other images to replace mine, I have to use my sub-par images. As for saying I am vandalizing Firefox, I suggest you read up on the definition of Vandalism. I suggest you visit the Firefox Discussion/Talk page. I have multiple pleas for help there, but I never receive any. I have continued to be the only one to edit the Firefox wiki. If you have issues with my ethics, I suggest you bring it up with me at the time of "bad ethics". Thanks ҭᴙᴇᴡӌӌ 21:04, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Trewyy (Tigeryoshi),

What rubbish are you talking about? If talking about artifacts, why don’t you see the author ‘Das Schäfchen’ is logged in while creating that image & is that artifact or not…?? And again talking about Windows Aero, I’ve seen you modified a screenshot of Firefox 5 with Basic Theme applied which contradicts your above statement that Aero is good & be there in the screenshot.

Besides, I placed ‘About Firefox’ is to emphasize more on its version number or else how the general public would know that it’s indeed a copy of Firefox 12 or not…??

And for your information, you had just duplicated my image with an exactly duplicate name ’Firefox12.png’ which is forbidden in Wikipedia & generates an error. And which I might think you had over-passed that error with ‘Ignore Warning’ dialog box. Do I have to remind these practices are actually vandalism…?? And yes, considering these facts, you’re actually vandalizing the Firefox article by making incorrect decisions. So, don’t sprout simply some stupid excuses to prove that you’re right, Ok…??

Robin Mathew Rajan 22:37, 24 April 2012 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Robin Mathew Rajan (talkcontribs)

Robin,
I think you are getting at this the wrong way. I will state it again - Firefox12.png is NOT my image. Also, it is not against Wikipedia rules. It generates an error (Forbidden error that you mention) for you because the file already exists, created by user Das Schäfchen. I am a little confused as to what you are saying in the second sentence about "If talking about artifacts, why don’t you see the author ‘Das Schäfchen’ is logged in while creating that image & is that artifact or not…??" I'm not really aware of these artifacts that you speak of, and i'm not aware of how to see if this user in online, which is pretty irrelevant anyways. As for me talking about Aero, I was saying that in Das Schäfchen photo, there is transparency in the Window of Firefox, as well as having some sort of drop shadow on the photo. Das Schäfchen has created images for Firefox starting with Firefox 5.
I really hate having arguements, I would much rather have a discussion. I am not vandalizing the article, please read what Vandalism is. Vandalism is making purposefully bad edits to ruin an article. My edits are not purposely bad - you may view them as being bad, but I don't believe they are bad, and I don't think most people think my edits are bad. Incorrect decisions is not vandalism. Please work on your English before you make false accusations. As for me making stupid excuses, I wouldn't really agree with you again (but that is obvious). I am just giving reasons as to why I make alot of the decisions on the Firefox article. And I will state it again - I am the only person who actively edits the article to keep it relevant. I am also the only person who goes on the Talk/Discussion page and asks for help. Once again, I will extend my hand to you. Please take up my offer and read some of the requests for help on the Talk page, and do something about them.
I have also started a vote/poll on the Talk:Firefox page at the very bottom for people to vote on which image they would prefer on the homepage. I hope you will stay out of the poll, as I have. I have not included my personal preference, which is why I hope you will not comment on it. I really want to leave this up to the public seeing as we are unable to come to an agreement. Thanks ҭᴙᴇᴡӌӌ 23:16, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Trewyy,

Yeah, I really congratulate your efforts on maintaining the Firefox article. Sorry for my bad in English because I’m not a native Englishman as like you. However, I’m really wondered by your incapability to see if a user’s login session is active while attempting the screenshot for such an experienced person in Wikipedia..!!. Well, for that, this link might help you: http://i.imgur.com/QCrYl.png

Please note the marked rectangle & compare to the original image to see if I’m right or not.

Well, the case about applying correct licensing attributes to my image is solved now as it has the same license as Das Schäfchen’s image. So now I guess there’re no other content related artifacts in my image.

Robin,
Thank you for your explanation, it helped me understand your previous posts better. I have opened a Mediation request with Wikipedia. Because I continue to receive no feedback from the Firefox wiki, I have asked that Wikipedia give in sight to resolve the article image. Here is the request for mediation: Mediation of Firefox Screenshot

Trewyy,

Hmm… Thanks for your action & the moral guidelines too… :) And when the decision to cease screenshot dispute would deliver…?? Robin Mathew Rajan 00:15, 25 April 2012 (UTC)

I'm not quite sure myself. The mediation got moved here: DRN Firefox I expect within 24 hours ҭᴙᴇᴡӌӌ 00:32, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Formal mediation has been requested

The Mediation Committee has received a request for formal mediation of the dispute relating to "Firefox". As an editor concerned in this dispute, you are invited to participate in the mediation. Mediation is a voluntary process which resolves a dispute over article content by facilitation, consensus-building, and compromise among the involved editors. After reviewing the request page, the formal mediation policy, and the guide to formal mediation, please indicate in the "party agreement" section whether you agree to participate. Because requests must be responded to by the Mediation Committee within seven days, please respond to the request by 2 May 2012.

Discussion relating to the mediation request is welcome at the case talk page. Thank you.

Re: Firefox

I do sometimes wonder whether any of my sentences still remain in some of those FAs. Maybe that's why I've tried to focus on more original work and article creation in more recent years: Lemuel Diggs, etc., which may never become FAs due to my full time job and other obligations. Andrevan@ 01:01, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunately it hasn't been a FA for quite a while. I understand you are interested in creating new articles, but the Firefox article needs more active editors. I am the only active editor, and it sucks. I need someone to discuss things with. ҭᴙᴇᴡӌӌ 01:04, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

DRN thread

This is a friendly note informing you that DRN is used for dispute. As I understand your question, you were simply asking for opinion on which picture to use. The help desk may have improperly directed you to DRN.Curb Chain (talk) 12:15, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, originally we did have a dispute over which image to use on the Firefox wikipedia. We wanted the dispute resolved by having someone bring some rules up or something. ҭᴙᴇᴡӌӌ 12:22, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I'm very much in favour of it, but I saw in Gerv's message that he suggested active or semi-active wikipedia editors. I barely touch this site, so I didn't feel my name was appropriate for the list. 88.103.42.243 (talk) 06:49, 9 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
