"New Day" is the official first single by US rapper 50 Cent, from his upcoming album Street King Immortal, set to be released in November.[1] The song features America singer Alicia Keys and rapper Dr. Dre. The track was produced by Dr. Dre and mixed by Eminem.[2] The single was released on July 27, 2012.

Background

The single was announced during a interview with Digital Spy, uploaded on July 17, 2012. In the same interview he also stated possible appearances of the album: Rihanna and Frank Ocean.[3] The cover art was unveiled also on July 17, 2012.[1]. 50 Cent also released a preview of the song in the Mobile App of his website ThisIs50. The single was premiered with DJ Camilo on Hot97 and then later on Thisis50.

On June 28, Swizz Beatz released the solo version of his wife Alicia Keys, "New Day" on the internet, with the beat of the song being different to the 50 Cent's version and being produced by him instead of Dr. Dre.[4][5] According to DJ Enuff the record cause a stir between both Alicia's label, RCA , and 50 Cent's, Interscope Recordss whom were both wanting to release the track as a single, even though it was originally 50 Cent's song and Alicia had decided to record a solo version.
