The 2012 Summer Olympics medal table is a list of National Olympic Committees (NOCs) ranked by the number of medals won during the 2012 Summer Olympics in London in the United Kingdom from 27 July to 12 August 2012. Approximately 10,500 athletes are expected to participate in 302 events in 26 sports.[1] As of the eighth day of competition, 57 NOCs have secured at least one medal, with 31 having won at least one gold medal. Guatemala won its first Olympic medal.[2]

Medal table

Medal winners in archery (men's team), from left to right: Brady Ellison, Jake Kaminski, and Jacob Wukie from the United States (silver); Michele Frangilli, Marco Galiazzo, and Mauro Nespoli from Italy (gold); and Kim Bub-Min, Im Dong-Hyun, and Oh Jin-Hyek from South Korea (bronze)

This is the table of the medal count of the 2012 Summer Olympics, based on the medal count of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). These rankings sort by the number of gold medals earned by a National Olympic Committee (NOC). The number of silver medals is taken into consideration next and then the number of bronze medals. If, after the above, countries are still tied, equal ranking is given and they are listed alphabetically by IOC Country Code. Although this information is provided by the IOC, the IOC itself does not recognize or endorse any ranking system.[3]

In boxing, judo, taekwondo, and wrestling, two bronze medals are awarded in each weight class. Two silver medals (and no bronze) were awarded for second place ties in the men's 200 metre freestyle swimming and men's 100 metre butterfly swimming event.[4][5]

Note: This table reflects medal counts as of 4 August 2012 (Day 8).
