Notes
- ^ A player is considered inactive if he has announced his retirement or not played for a full season.
- ^ Major League Baseball lists Cobb's hit total at 4,191, although some independent baseball historians have revised the total to 4,189 because of double-counting a 2-hit day.
- ^ Cap Anson's hit amounts are different depending on source and what hits are including in various leagues he played in. His total varies from 2995-3435. MLB credits him with 3,011.
