List of fastest production cars by acceleration

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This is an old revision of this page, as edited by 108.249.207.84 (talk) at 00:37, 5 May 2013 (→‎By quarter mile (~402 m) time (12 seconds or less): Added AMC Javelin TT 440 with reference). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

The widely varying testing methodologies mean that, even between identical cars, the acceleration times vary. Some of these differences include: driver/rider, payload, track surface conditions, weather/air temperature and launching technique. Please add any production car that runs the 1/4 mile in under 12.5 seconds or from 0-60 mph in under 4.0 seconds.

By 0–100 km/h time or 0–60 mph (0–96.56 km/h) (4 seconds or less)

This list includes full production cars only; concept, modified, very limited-production, and race cars of any kind are not considered. If an independent time becomes available, that time will be listed over the manufacturer's time regardless if the latter is quicker. Many elements change how fast the car can accelerate to 60 mph. Tires, elevation above sea level, weight of the driver, equipment used for testing, and surface of testing track all play a big part in these times. Please take this into consideration while reading.

For comparison, an object in free fall (without any air resistance) accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 2.83 seconds and from 0–60 mph in 2.73 seconds.

Italics indicates manufacturer's claim or estimate as opposed recorded by a reliable third party source.
