- I do a lot of work with film posters and often come across filenames that are either incorrect or difficult to decipher. Sometimes it's something simple like missing the word "poster" after the film title, but usually more than that. Would be handy to make corrections myself, rather than asking other users. Thanks. - Adding a single word "poster" to a file name usually doesn't meet a valid reason for renaming per WP:FMV#What files should not be renamed? --Stefan2 (talk) 13:05, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- Fair enough. I have seen a number of people add the word "poster" to filenames without it because there is a specific guideline re film poster images, but those aren't really the ones that I take issue with. It's the ones where you have to study them to work out what they mean that I'm more concerned with. Film Fan 13:23, 12 September 2013 (UTC)
- I have studied the policy and feel I could be a helping hand here and there. Film Fan 21:11, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

- Would like to request file mover user rights as I want to help out in renaming files and want to help at the upload log. Just like the page moving policies, I'm also familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines surrounding renaming different types of media. ///EuroCarGT 00:04, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

- I am capable of renaming file names and requesting deletion of older filenames. I can tell which file is appropriate and which is not. If I upload a new file and accidentally use a wrong name, then I can change the name. If I upload a new version to overwrite the old file, then I must change the filename to reflect the new version. - I have been granted similar tools previously, including Reviewer, Autopatrolled, and Rollbacker status, and proven that I utilize these tools responsibly and in an effort to make my work on Wikipedia more efficient and useful to the greater project. As you can see in my public log, I have over a year of experience adding media files to Wikipedia properly, in addition to ensuring the files uploaded are done so with the appropriate formatting and permissions. I would like to bring this experience to helping review media files as they are added each day by other users, in order to ensure they are named in the proper manner. I have spent several months becoming acquainted with others kinds of clean-up processes on Wikipedia--such as using DAB-solver, reviewing new pages, and patrolling vandalism on my watchlist--and believe I can also be of help utilizing a file-mover permission to ensure that incoming media files are named appropriately sooner rather than later. I've also already made myself very familiar with the file renaming policies of Wikipedia. Jeremy112233 (talk) 20:14, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

- I am familiar with the file naming policy (I am also already a filemover on commons). I have over 1500 File namespace edits and over 8000 total. I have previously been allocated permissions for both reviewer and rollbacker. I would like this permission as the wikiproject I work with has a significant number of en.wiki-only files. Similarly I would like to continue to do my part to ensure reasoned and sane file naming on en.wiki. I will do my best to answer any further questions :) -- Nbound (talk) 11:53, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

- I am requesting filemover permission to assign correct names to files in a simple and easy manner. Thanks... Mkg just4u (talk) 23:32, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

- Not done No evidence of the need to use this tool: there are no {{rename media}} template-based requests in the File: namespace in their contribution history, just one non-free upload. Today, they have also requested rollback, reviewer (denied), account creator (also denied) and autopatrolled. This seems rather excessive... —Tom Morris (talk) 18:25, 6 October 2013 (UTC)
- Regularly uploaded in commons; even in latest non-free upload, put one extra space towards end in title where this right come in handy. भास्कर् Bhagawati Speak 01:33, 7 October 2013 (UTC)
