"Years of service"?

This article -- and everything else I can find -- says he started in 1962. He died 3/31/08, and obviously can't have worked beyond then. From 1962 to 2008 is 46 years. Depending when he started in 1962 (can't find a date), that might include the 1961-62 season, which would put him at 47 seasons. Although it seems to be widely reported, I don't see where the number 48 actually comes from. cmadler (talk) 14:40, 29 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
