Stopped?

The bot hasn't reduced any files for some time. Has the task stopped for some reason? --Stefan2 (talk) 14:53, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Shoot. Looking into now. Theopolisme (talk) 15:51, 14 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Stefan2:  Fixed, thanks for bringing this to my attention. Theopolisme (talk) 16:00, 15 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Has something happened again? There haven't been any reductions this month. --Stefan2 (talk) 14:44, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Minoru Toyoda Gold Medal.jpg

⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Minoru Toyoda Gold Medal.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Ymblanter (talk) 12:07, 19 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

BYellowAdamSolo.jpg

Hey there, thanks for notifying my about the lack of description on the image BYellowAdamSolo.jpg I have added detailed description to the image, please post on my talk page if you believe that the image still lacks description. Or feel free to edit the description yourself :) Thanks

More detailed "problem" descriptions!

LittleBot just told me an image was missing it's "description or something else". The image had a description, so I guess it's missing something else? Or maybe the way it looks for a description doesn't work on this image?

In any event, the message is too vague to be useful unless it's actually missing a description. Is there no way to make these messages much more specific?

Maury Markowitz (talk) 15:55, 21 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hey Maury, thanks for getting in touch, and sorry for my belated reply (I was on vacation). The template that the bot substitutes can be found at Template:Description missing. In your case, the image was missing author information--however, I agree that the template should ideally be more detailed, but I'm not sure of the best implementation of that. I'll add this to my todo list, though! Happy editing, Theopolisme (talk) 20:35, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Template:Cite wdl/9935

Was this Kikuya, Kzabur (1828). "View of Entire Suruga Region". World Digital Library (in Japanese). Shizuoka, Japan. Retrieved 22 June 2013. really what you head in mind? The Banner talk 22:56, 29 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@The Banner: Thanks for the letting me know! It looks like an issue with UTF-8 vs ASCII encoding. I'll look into it. Theopolisme (talk) 20:36, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Only when you know there is some problem, you can try to fix it... The Banner talk 21:05, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fixed, but induced other errors, so still working (if frequent status updates are your thing) Theopolisme (talk) 21:44, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@The Banner: Alright, this is  Done with commit. Thanks again for pointing the problem out to me :) Theopolisme (talk) 22:01, 30 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Double notification

This bot gave me the same notification twice. Once here, and once here. You may want to look into that. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 19:09, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

@Headbomb: This is actually intentional; the bot will notify users every 15 days (if I remember correctly...in any case, around that number). If you'd prefer not to be notified, you can follow the instructions at User:Theo's Little Bot/opt-out. Cheers, Theopolisme (talk) 23:35, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It seems rather spammy to me. I'm not particularly concerned about myself here, but if you have an inactive user, you'll end up with 24-25 notices per year for each file. Headbomb {talk / contribs / physics / books} 14:01, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Headbomb: The bot only notifies users if they don't have a notification on their talk page already. The idea is, if they're inactive, the notification would not be archived, so they wouldn't receive another one. Theopolisme (talk) 16:24, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

File:Bone Thugs N Harmony Strength&Loyalty.jpg

I already fixed the source in April. The source link leads to the album's page on Discogs. Sc135 (talk) 22:00, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sc135, thanks for letting me know—the file was mistagged with {{bsr}}, which is why the bot notified you. I've removed the tag, so you shouldn't receive any more incorrect notifications. Cheers, Theopolisme (talk) 00:36, 31 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Problem edit

Hi, there appears to be a problem with this edit which changes the link destination to the page the link now redirects to. This is incorrect as it looses the actual destination of the link which is required in order to solve the dead link situation. Keith D (talk) 10:59, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Keith, thanks for letting me know. The website itself (tottenhamhotspur.com) appears to return misleading HTTP status codes—for example, when I browsed to the URL that the bot "messed up," the website returned HTTP 200, which basically means "everything's a-okay," and gave no indication that the page had been redirected. So, when the bot thought it was getting the canonical url of the original link, it was actually getting the canonical url of where it had been redirected, without even knowing that it had been redirected (since the website gave no indication of that), which was obviously the wrong behavior. This seems like an edge case, though (a combination of canonical urls and bad web development), so I'm actually at a bit of a loss for how to handle this (and, furthermore, if there's even anything I can really handle). Nonetheless, thanks for reporting it, Theopolisme (talk) 15:10, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

COI

I see that the bot now adds a COI tag to some talk pages, as it did here, although I can't find it on the list of tasks. No explanation was given and no obvious sign of COI, so I'm wonder if this is intended for all articles. These types of mass change jam up watchlists for a while. -AndrewDressel (talk) 12:57, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Andrew, sorry for the confusion. That edit was part of the trial for Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/Theo's_Little_Bot_26, which is currently pending. Your feedback there is welcome. Thanks! Theopolisme (talk) 21:42, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It appears I'm not the only one confused by COI tags being inserted for no apparent reason. here's another one. This seems like a bad idea. Where do I say so? -AndrewDressel (talk) 01:05, 13 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Task 13?

I don't see any recent activity on task 13, taking an archiveurl= and getting an url= if it doesn't exist on a cite web for archive.org. Is this being run?Naraht (talk) 14:24, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:Kylie minogue its no secret 15.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:Kylie minogue its no secret 15.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 19:53, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

General-Roy-Hoffman.jpg

This is tiresome. I cannot provide a more precise source. If you are going to delete the pic on that grounds than do so. I do not find the matter important enough to put that kind of effort into it. RTO Trainer (talk) 00:22, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RTO Trainer -- sorry this was a pain for you. The notification is based upon the {{bsr}} template on File:General-Roy-Hoffman.jpg. Remove the template from the page, and you'll no longer receive notifications about it. Theopolisme (talk) 01:19, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Image resizing and problematic images

Images that are tagged for deletion/FfD/NFCR and the like shouldn't be re-sized. If the image survives then it can be re-sized. Werieth (talk) 20:23, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

A note of thanks for all the work you did on shrinking images - really appreciate itDutchy85 (talk) 12:18, 15 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
